What's new

Charlotte elections

just an observation ,
But why hasn't the AGC for CLT at least congratulated his new grievance committee YET!!

I realize it was BENEATH him to walk over and wish them GOOD LUCK on election day , since he was embedded in the incumbants

camp but HE needs to realize HE is the AGC for EVERYONE in clt not just the three AMIGOS.

The CLT AGC did not even stick around for the Local Lodge meeting. As a matter of fact, he has been absent from the past two meetings. Guess you don't feel the obligation when you have not been elected to the position. Crazy thing happened though if you were in the crowd around the newly elected committee.
The United AGC walked out of the local an hour before the polls closed and congratulated the new guys. Then she walked back inside as the incumbents packed up their hot dog trailer. It was to kool.

Sorry I missed that.

O.K. Here we go,
This is how the I AM MANAGEMENT treats the democratic process. Nominations for Grievance Committee should have been held in November at my local. Well the Local President did not know this, even though it is in the By-Laws of the Local. Needless to say nominations were not done in November. The Local President was going to see if the meeting in January could be held closer to the station, so the nominations could be done at that meeting. Well apparently the I AM MANAGEMENT can't afford to move the meeting. Now I have to take a second day off work WITHOUT PAY to go to the meeting to get nominated. Anybody out here smell a rat besides me?

pj ,
check your by-laws in clt you could submit your nomination acceptance in advance of the meeting if you can't attend

Oman,
The problem with that is I have to have somebody nominate me. The only people from my station that go to the meetings is the 3 people on the grievance committee. I doubt that they will want to nominate 3 others for their job...LOL.

I just got word that the Teamsters will let us use their hall in January for our meeting. For the outragous price of 50 whole dollars. I don't know, the IAM might have to raise our dues to afford that...LOL    Now we will see if they actually move the meeting.

pjirish317,

With you working in a class II city,
is your local in your city or do you have
to travel?

pjirish317,

Most stations where Local Lodges do not exist do
not have a "Local Grievance Committee" beyond
a shop committee. -Article 20 A. of the CBA
Most shop committee elections can take place at
the station with the steward getting the most votes
being "chief" steward per say.
Check with your AGC, or ask your Local President
if this is the case and if the elections could be held
"in station".

Thanks,

Well,
It looks like the local did all that they could. No "funny buisness" went on. I will just have to go to the meeting. hopefully my station will come together like CLT did.

redeye,

My station has a local. Altough it is more that 50 miles away. We still have a local. So I will just have to go to the local and get nominated. along with 2 other people.
