What's new

Charlotte Fleet Service shift bid

NW had Staff Plan for awhile... Nothing says "garbage in/garbage out" like getting a staff number of 1.9 for a flight.

There was talk last night(and I admit just talk unless some one knows different) that the powers that be actually know the new shift bid is a failure before it starts & may be pulled down.

What were the MORONS thinking when they made this thing up. We had something here that worked & made Tempe & mgmt. look good now they screwed it up. This should bury their sorry arses.

Harry,

They have several trips a day to Phx....In all your wisdom....you need to go there and explain to them your thoughts and enlighten them on all the good things you have done for the airline, and volunteer to compile a new bid to your liking and the rest of the crew...I will await your return from Phx

was talking to a clt employee today and she was explaining what the company did with the shift bid in clt . It appears that Tempe thinks they can run clt like they do in phx with
a bunch of college kids working the weekends and taking the m-f days off. All I can say to clt is WELCOME to OUR world out west. maybe your local union is stronger and more united than
the bozos we have out here. Good luck we are all watching to see the outcome of your new work schedule. I know some out here b*tch and moan but nobody ever stands up and does anything about it.

Harry Callihan is our front man here, he speaks for most of us...without him, I dont know what we would do....

In my station i had seen a rough draft of what a new shift bid looks like and for us that sucks real bad. Apparently Camille the regional wants my station to have 1 FT agent int he bagroom from 230am to 630am with a PT and then from 630 to 11a the FT would be left all alone, with 3 flights to PHL and 2 to CLT. If that were me stuck in there alone, I never would get any one of the 5 flights out on time. The company wants to have between 4 and 7 FT and onthe 11p to 7a shift not sure why because our flights first out is 525am and last in is 1130p.

Read your contract and show us all where they can't do a bid how they see fit oh wise one.

REZ that's one thing you are right on. Question for you. The word here is that in PHX the full time shifts are 1000-1830 with part timers on either end earlier & later. What is the truth on the PHX schedules for Fleet Svc ?

Word going around here is that if some way this new shift bid works here that's what all full timers here will do.

I have no idea why this is happening--oh wait..STREAMLINE!

Once our F/T work 1230-900p..Talk about a shift that SUX!

Why IS Tempe getting involved?

Let the station managers HANDLE IT- They did well before..Why F-it up now?

I heard Tempe (or the Regionals) are getting involved because they dont have any sympathy or interest toward anyone having X shift "because they've always had that shift". The schedule is made up to (supposedly) cover flights and everyone bids. There arent any "sympathy" shifts for Agent #1 to have their M-F 430a-100p if they dont need them until 7am or 10am or whenever.
Our regional got involved with our last bid after their last station visit. Our 10 hour shifts went away and the schedule was "tweaked" to better suit the operation because of the complaints they received. We had 5 agents to cover curbside/ticketing/FC and 12 kiosks in the afternoon so when lunch time came we went to one curb and three counter agents for a good part of the day. The Regional approved a schedule (made by local management) that just moved the problems earlier in the day instead, but hey we dont have the problem in the afternoon any more!

Not true. 0600-1430, 0630-1500, 1330-2200 and 1400-2230 are 95% of shifts in PHX.

You can crunch the numbers all you want same result. This is usually management answer move the problem around

PRez,

This will always be the problem. There will be a large number of people who think it is their "right" to have an 0830-1700 type of shift, regardless if it makes operational sense. It is an "Leave it to Beaver" mentality of dropping the kids off at school at 0730, and be at home for dinner by 1800. Of course, we know that airline schedules usually are not that accomodating, especially in terms of holidays and weekends off, and honestly, the company is not in the mood to pay people (especially at the latest contract rates) to stand around 3 hours before touching a bag.

I guess I view it this way... we knew when we signed-up for this job, some things weren't likely to happen... being able to consume illegal drugs or being intoxicated while on-duty, getting all Federal holidays off, getting weekends off, and being guaranteed an 9-5 job. If someone doesn't like those conditions, then they should find a different occupation.

So Assesses Jester.

Read your contract and show us all where they can't do a bid how they see fit oh wise one.

where did I say it was or wasn't in our contract. There are other ways to get your point acrossed.. wink wink nudge nudge
that is all I will say about that especially to you . I just as well walk in to dales office and tell him myself considering the close ties you have
with management. Again as a so called leader you Defend the company every chance you get. what side of the negotiations table would you sit on
my guess you would be Mr Hemmingways water boy..
