<_< ------ Not only does this Nation need more jobs, it needs more good paying jobs!!!! http://money.cnn.com/2011/05/20/news/companies/boeing_nlrb_jobs/index.htm

Good paying jobs in the airlines, forgettaboutit, as long as the race to the bottom ( labor ) continues.

Still we, ( taxpayers ) continue to subsidize BIG OIL. So the airlines ( AA ) will continue to stand on shaky ground and look for lint in your pockets.

The airline business is a poor career choice.

"A worker's right to strike is a fundamental right," said NLRB Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon when he issued the complaint.

Guess that makes us second class citizens.

Four years, two requests to be released and excersize a"fundamental right" yet we are still being held hostage.

I understand the idea of a 30 day cooling off period, it allows the travelling public to make alternate plans, and the company to line up scabs, but delaying a release for years is completely unjust and hugely unfair to workers. If companies know they can impose a pay freeze for years on end there is no incentive to bargain. Inflation pressures workers finances and imposes real paycuts. While our income remains below what it was in 2003 the company's income has risen by nearly $5 billion. This is not Collective Bargaining, its Collective Begging and it was never the intent of the RLA to effectively prohibit strikes, which is what is really going on here, it was to set up an orderly process to mediate disputes between workers and carriers, Not to hold workers down until they submit. Under current conditions workers are left with few choices. The carriers have the full weight of the law aiding their oppression of workers so workers have to operate outside of the law or submit to declining real wages and poorer benifits and working conditions. If they remain law abiding they lose their right to bargain. Talking and being told "NO go back to work" is not bargaining. What happens is poor morale causes poor performance and sporatic, unsanctioned actions and the traveling public gets blindsided. Which is what the RLA was designed to prevent. The airline already got their money. The public would be better served if workers were released to excericise this fundemental right. Travelers would know that the clock is ticking and they could make other arrangements. Instead of a brief period where the public is forwarned they spend millions of extra hours spread out over a long period of time enduring delays that probably would not have occured if the workers were free to excercise the same rights as other workers.

We started bargaining in 2007, its now 2011, we asked to be released in March of 2010 and even brought the company's offer to the members which they rejected, in response the company took millions in new concessions from the offer. Do you think that would have happened if we had the "fundemental right" to strike? The company does what it does because they can, unions are prohibited from doing anything to protect their members from this abuse so workers pretty much have to do what they did prior to 1926.

Yes, the country needs more good-paying jobs, but those hillbillies in South Carolina shure as hell don't deserve them, especially since they refuse to join the IAM. The only Americans who deserve good-paying jobs are the militant union members in Washingon State.

People all over the world need good-paying jobs as well, but I understand that the rampant xenophobia on this website will cause many to claim that furriners don't deserve to make good-money assembling airplanes. America First!! Yea-Rah!!

I don't know if you are an American or not, but is has nothing to do with how one feels about other people in other countries. It has all to do with making America better. This is the country I live in and spent 4 years of my life defending.
They can boost their own economies all they want, just don't do it off my back. I will support helping any country or peoples, but first I have to make myself strong. What is happening today is disgusting. These corporations are eating America away from within and helping others at our expense.

<_< ------- I remmber a few years back when Ross Perot was running for President, said, when talking about NAFTA, " you'll hear a load sucking sound of jobs leaving this country!" -------Well guess what??? He may not have been right on a lot of matters, but on that one, he hit it right on the head!!! 😉

Perot wasn't wrong and we haven't seen the worst of it yet. Still, I'd rather see jobs move inside the US than outsourced overseas.

<_< ------ You've got to be kidding me!----- Your TWU/AA are talking about throwing the new hires, and those under 50 years old, under the bus, in exchange for continuing retirement plan for the older workers! And lower pay scale for new hires. ----- Just what this country needs, AMT's, or whatever title you want to pin on them, working for $12.00 @ Hr.!!!----- 😉 and that's the direction AA will push it!!!-------If "you" let them!!!
