Hey Guy & Gals,
I don't know if this subject has touched upon. I apologize if it has, and Moderators, you can close this topic if it's a duplicate. Could you please refer me to the original topic if you do close this one.

Ok, here goes. I recently visited CLT to buy a house and I have every intention on transferring ASAP. Now upon walking the halls of my intended new stomping grounds, I noticed how bad the place looks. Old destination posters peeling and curling up. The seating in the terminal in horrible condition. Old flight information screens etc.

Who is in charge of fixing these things and making US (pun intended) look like the #1 airline in CLT. Is it the state/city/county or is it the airline itself? It's really embarrassing, as an employee to see the state of this airport.

Move to Phoenix, we have wonderful carpet floors on all the terminals, and great HEAT to come to!! Cheap housing to!

Jerry Orr is the Airport Director in CLT and is responsible for most of the renovations at the airport. I'm pretty sure he works hand in hand with US.

There are ongoing renovations taking place now all over the airport....from the roof on down.

They just finished redoing all the public lavs and some of the eateries. There is much more to come. Not to mention the runway expansions.

Welcome to Charlotte!

That's good to know. It seemed as if the restaurants looked pretty good. I did use the bathroom and they had an automatic hand towel machine screwed onto the former stainless steel paper towel dispenser. Pretty tacky. But I am happy to hear that they are trying.

HP is simply searching for the truly seamless operation: PHL and CLT will, on the surface, soon be identicle twins.

I too have been wondering about the same thing. I'm glad you added this thread. There are so many other airport's that have been upgraded from the ground up that serve smaller comunities that are much more appealing than Clt.

I commute from ATL, and i feel like i'm pulling up to a barn in a one horse town when i get here..lol Those bathroom's are a joke though. If that's their idea of remodeling and upgrading, i shudder to think how Bubba and freinds are going to do the rest of the place.

I read recently that they are planning on spending about 14 million on a solar farm on the property.

A solar farm! WOW. They will dedicate it with a Pig Pickin

Better than those rat infested hellholes north of the Mason-Dixon line.
If it's so great up north why is everybody leaving???
People say "thanks" and "excuse me" and when they say "come see us", they mean it.
Folks actually smile down here too!

And when they say "Bless your heart" they mean.

Bless your heart, or an obscenity.

Your choice.

Since you think CLT is so horrible/backward/tacky or whatever then why are you moving here? Do us all a favor and don't come! We don't want you to transfer! If you do come and start complaining, we will make it very miserable for you because we don't like it when out-of-towners come down here and complain about how much nicer things are back home! If they are so much nicer, then why are you here? You couldn't make it? Housing too expensive? No job? Yeah, things aren't perfect, no place is! It is still a great place to live and work.

BTW, people think us Southerners are so ignorant and backwards but NC has one of the best university systems and just because we have a different accent doesn't mean we are a bunch of idiots. I have received (actually still am since I'm working on an M.A.) an excellent education here and I know many well-educated people here. We don't just sit around and fly rebel flags and drink sweet tea and lemonade on our front porches and eat BBQ all day long or whatever it is people think we do. Geez! I have run into more ignorant people who aren't from the south in my lifetime because they constantly ask me stupid questions and patronize me/insult me thinking they are being cute or funny. I have a "funny" accent! Get over it! OK, I'm off my soapbox now. I just take offense when people make fun of CLT and especially of Southerners.
