CLT Airport

You don't have to tip. That's why it's called a gratuity. But I agree, it's creepy.
The reason for those people are less about services and tipping and more about keeping them clean. Anyway, why so concerned about the bathrooms? Is this Larry Craig?!

You haven't been blessed yet till you get the guy that says to everyone that walks in "Welcome to the mens restroom" and when you leave "Thank you for flying the friendly skies sir"
Better than the people pimping the US Airways MasterCard or worst yet, the F/A's.

Jerry Orr is VERY conservative and skeptical where the US Airways hub is concerned. When I first started flying just 22 years ago, there was no D or F concourses and either B or C were only half the size it is today. There was no middle section with a food court...just a temporary walkway that was temporary for a very long time until Orr felt comfortable that US Airways was committed to CLT. He will NEVER EVER make the mistake that PIT made with assuming US Airways would be around.

I am not sure who is in charge of the screens, but regardless, if Tempe cared, they would work harder to change things that seem to need improvement. Look how long it took Tempe to replace the signs on the jetways that were crinkled up and faded. They would never let this happen at PHX. The only complaint I have is that the jetway carpet looks horrible.

The airport has expanded the E concourse, added shops between C and D, has free wifi throughout the airport, will add a 23 gate international terminal, expand and improve the check in and pick up areas, and redo all the short term parking to include that and all rental car companies. The least US Airways can do is flip the bill for their concourses to mirror the quality of PHX.

I have lived in CLT for 5 years. Before that I lived in NYC, SFO, LAX, DCA, and MIA. In each place, I have always put aside my judgments and expectations. I have found that I am responsible for my happiness no matter where I live. Placing judgments on the people of a certain area or place is short sighted. I have found happiness in each city I have lived. Some took longer than others to embrace, but all have proven to be great experiences.

Charlotte is an easy place to live. The weather is great. You are close to mountains and coast. The city is still growing. Uptown is booming and continues to add more entertainment and cultural venues. The cost of living is moderate, and there are folks from all over the country. I lived in NYC for 12 years. After living there, no city in the USA will EVER equal the culture, nightlife, diversity, or skyline. I don't even try to compare and that is what makes me a happy camper.

Not to take anything away from Jerry, but Josh Birmingham the previous director had a vision for this airport and Jerry is making some of it become a reality...

Way to go, FlightChic! I've actually never understood a certain someone's apparent beef with all things CLT and/or southern. It seems to go beyond the obvious chip on the shoulder to the point of bordering on the obsessive.

Looking forward to seeing the improvements at CLT, many of which are much-needed and long overdue!

I never understood those whose drawers are so tight they can't find something to laugh about everyday.

Please accept my apology. There are no rednecks in or anywhere near CLT. Outhouses are for decoration. Everyone in CLT pronounces their 'R's and 'G's distinctly.

Hurry off to brunch before the quiche gets cold.

I think Charlotte is a fantastic up and coming city. Now what I don't understand is what an "airport" has to do with liking a city. That is such an airline thing. It's been the same way with Pittsburgh. People ALWAYS rate Pittsburgh on those they know from Moon, Cranberry and all those other airport area communities. Pittsburgh is NONE of those things. Ok back to CLT. Besides the airport being a dump, WHERE might I ask is the "southern hospitality"? Everywhere I go there it's like people are on a welfare to work program. They are nasty, rude and downright ignorant. I know that is not a reflection of CLT itself but it certainly IS what people see while connecting through your hub. That IS what CLT is..... a connecting hub. The people are RUDE. White rocking chairs won't make the traveling public overlook the nasty people. I think it has a bright future with the expansion planned. Just staff it with nicer people. 🙄

Well, your lucky your getting rocking chairs...It costs 1.27 (last years figures) to move a pax thru CLT, your not going to get the Ritz Carlton..

I think it's downright fantastic that it only costs CLT a $1.27 per passenger but it shows. Since the merger that airport has gone downhill faster than the sale of Crocs shoes.

Travelpro, you get what you pay for. Secondly, staff in PHL and PHX aren't exactly pleasant. The attitude you experience comes unfortunately from the migration of non-southerners who after ruining their own cities up north come to Charlotte to spread their own special brand of snotty behavior. Guess what, you all have rubbed off on us. LOL

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well ya could have fooled me with those snotty transplants. They sure do have that southern drawwwww. Well again, LOVE Charlotte but those hired in the restaurants and shops in Charladelphia are nasty, rude and simply unpleasant. Like I said in my earlier post......it's the welfare to work program. They are HORRIBLE and I don't give a damn WHO finds my observation harsh or wrong. It is what it is. Love yaaaall.

If the Yankees wanted to ruin Charlotte they would have torched it like they did Atlanta.

Darn mud huts just wouldn't catch fire.
