Clt fleet worker arrested while on duty....DUI, open container, hit and run, failure to stop, property damage...booked into the Meck county jail on 3/7/08. According to airport ops agent, one other person from mainline and another from Express bailed out after the accident. Driver was fired, one was suspended pending further action and one was given 3 days off.

Pretty much executive level talent at this company. Let's get those guys out to Tempe ASAP!

Maybe one day in jail and wrist slap, like Parker got. And an invitation to Parkers next drunk fest  Definitley management material

Not that I am surprised, but this one has gotten mean spirited and childish in a hurry.

So here's the deal. Either you can discuss the incident itself and its ramifications in CLT or for the employees/unions, or I can close it.
And no further mention of Doug Parker and his history unless he has a reaction to the incident. It has no bearing on this incident whatsoever.

Enough already.....

In that case...

Why was one employee fired (understandable...he was intoxicated on the job)

However the other employee got suspended pending review and one got 3 days off work(mini-vacation w/out Pay)...

This does not seem like an accordingly or fitting punishment for the three employees involved in this recklessness behavior in CLT.

my understanding is all were fired, a union guy expressed hope he could get the one their job back(not the driver he is done no saving him) both are well over twenty year guys. the express employee is not under union and is of course done

The investigation is on going and those involved are not talking with anyone for obvious reasons.

Anything beyond this is speculation and the only ones that know the whole story are not talking.

So other than the driver, who is apparently up the creek without a paddle, the main question becomes, were they authorized to take the van off airport property, and if so, by whom?

If they were so authorized, the others may be guilty of nothing worse than poor judgement-unless it is proven they were drinking on the job too.

At the risk of risking the moderator's ire, can someone explain to me how Doug gets a pass driving what's probably a company leased car but employees don't?

I think that's a legitimate point for discussion.

oops just read what the mod posted on page one SORRY , post deleted by poster

well for one it's unlikely the leased car had the company logos all over it while I guess both are company vehicles

maybe that shouldnt make any difference but in the real world it does

then there is the obvious he's the boss

I don't think this was any "witch hunt" by Tempe but rather poor judgment by these employees. Although many details are not known, there are some facts to this accident that will have significant impacts on certain people that were involved.

Hopefully no one was hurt in this accident especially the other driver or US could be facing a major lawsuit.
