CLT to Open New 25 Gate Int. Terminal in 2011

This new international terminal isn't looking so bad now is it. With a cdg flight and a possibility of a fco flight next summer along with a gig flight. US has plans for Clt that not many know about i think. The issue is that they have to rebuild a main parking deck to allow for the rental cars to be moved so they can start laying ground for the terminal.
 
I sure hope they staff that new international terminal with nicer people. The "prison to work" program they have running currently really lets that "southern hospitality" shine through and through. As for the airport itself, it's bursting at the seems. You can barely walk through terminals B and C.
 
Sao Paulo should have been the first Brazillian destination. Alot more business routed into there. Or was it that Rio was the only available route?

You may be correct about Sao Paulo.

But LCC is not a "business" airline; it's a "leisure" airline. We're not interested in attracting, pleasing or keeping the high-yield business traveler. We are looking for "Ma and Pa Kettle Hit the Copacabana." (Just picture Marjorie Main in a string bikini...that's LCC!)
 
Ha US LCC we all wish the fares were cheap. LCC's don't have mainline flights between charlotte and allentown pa.

I can see it now, Barry Manilow will be the entertainment for the inaugural flight. :lol:
 
Nah. Barry is too expensive. Knowing Tempe, we'll have Charo, since they'll want a Latin beat.

This was discussed extensively when US was awarded the GIG route. GRU is closed to new flights until congestion plans are implemented, so US had no chance at GRU. GIG was as close as US could get to a S American business destination.
 
Trump is not building in Charlotte, those plans we're canceled months ago, he did recently say that Charlotte is on his radar about building a mixed use area, but there are no formal plans for Trump to build.

Second whe US moved the FRA flight from CLT to BOS it failed and was moved back to CLT and was and is so sucessful it drove LH to stop their 747 combi flights that went FRA-CLT-IAH, CLT FRA is succesful it was upgraded from a 767 to the 330.

CLT to Europe offers travelrs the option of avoiding ATL and I think Tempe might vn grow CLT to Europe flights in the future

Supposing you are commenting on other posts and other topics. Trump is looking at buying in charlotte not building so he is not starting from scratch on anything he does in charlotte now.
 
This thread is old, and I have found absolutely NO mention of any recent progress on this red herring project. Not even in the airport web site pages about expansion, news, advisory committee meeting notes, etc. have any updates.

A smattering of new (or returning) US Airways flights does not warrant a 25 gate terminal. To really compete and not fall into the trap of what PIT did - CLT must not rely solely on USAirways to bring them the intl. air traffic.
