With all this news about the Philly meltdown, why don't we hear anything about CLT? Aren't they both major hubs? Don't they both have the same pay scale? What gives?????

What gives........... is there was NO SICK OUT!

Just pure ineptness from a managment team that can't run an airline, treats employees like s%$&, and does not value them on any level....of course until the S%$^ hits the fan...then all of a sudden, they need the employees.

Management was not prepared for increase in holiday travel, coupled with the weather in the mid west and high winds in PHL, increase in bag transfers (ingrediants for a "perfect storm") and looked for a reason for blame to the public. Don't forget, they downsized PIT this year to a focus city, and PHL ran basically "solo" with transfers and connections.

It is like blaming the troops in Iraq for the insurgency because there are too few of them placed to guard the country.

Shaking head....stupid is as stupid does... B)

In my opinion, employee attitude and personal pride.

USA320,

Don't know what the hell you are talking about, but you definitely don't know the facts.

At least I investigate before I go public on these boards.

Regardless, from a customer perspective, there is a difference. The people in CLT treat customers much better than in PHL.

MOnday, CLT had one of the highest sick calls of all bases for f/as...higher than PHL, and there are 700 more PHL f/as than CLT.

Come again?

You see, a little investigation can be dangerous.....its not the sick call, as they were reletavely the same last year, with NO crew cancellations....its the operation in PHL, minus PIT has an operating HUB.

this site is worth cancelling my cable TV...CLT has a work ethic ... they care ...as do most in PHL it's just a different thing ...take the emotion factor away ...we all want this to win... I hope....

Philadelphia makes Baghdad look like an Eden. If they had not cut back PIT so much, we would not be talking about this. PHL has reached critical mass and they can't handle it. It's time to pimp up PIT to handle what PHL can't.

Regardless of whether it was a sickout or management's fault, people got screwed over by the airline and now something has to be done to get back lost customers.

Overall, however, my experience in CLT is much more pleasant than in PHL. I recently flew out of PHL and the gate agent smiled NOT ONCE when a customer approached her desk and rolled her eyes several times when customers, particularly an elderly customer, asked her a question. When an employee approached, however, she smiled and was very friendly. Take a look at how some people in PHL treat the customers. I don't find that in CLT.

PHL base employees are overworked and under staffed. Period.

Come to PIT, before and after.....no congestion. We were the MECCA once, and we know how to operate in all kinds of inclimate weather and passenger traffic.

Some stupid managment "bean counter", looked at the O/D traffic in PIT and based the entire operation on O/D traffic.

What they didn't put into the equation is more personnel where there is more O/D.

So, management got their heads bit off,and thought they would pass the blame to labor...

NOT ON MY WATCH!!

PITbull,
Apparently you do not investigate to well..go to topic POLL: IS IT RIGHT SCREWING OVER THE AIRLINE OPERATIONS? Go to page 15..Very interesting reply to my comment about mainline crews being qualified on the EMB170..HMM..maybe we do not investigate before we speak.

Oh yeah..just incase you do not know which post..it is from Lightyears..the last post on the topic..maybe you should read it and learn a little about MAA.

PHL is a great station...unlike PIT love the mall... there is no O/D traffic...sorry nice a/p but airline has to market it's self where the traffic is get a clue...

XO,

last time I'm going to tell this to you....mainline is not qualified on the EMB-170.

Maybe you can comprehend this better....ITD is qualified on the A330, but many of the ITD f/as in PIT were not qualified on the rest of the airbusses, EVEN THOUGH THEY CARRY THE EMERG. MANUAL WITH THOSE PLANES IN THEIR BOOK.

PIT f/as had to go through training end of Oct and Nov. when the ITD was eliminated.

FACT!!@!!!

Dress a duck up any way you want to dress it but no matter how you spin it, dress it, pretty it up it still quacks and it's still a duck. Same goes for what happened last weekend. The people scheduled to work did not and called out sick. PERIOD. That was not managements fault despite what you say edited. Just because you can give a quote to a news or print reporter doesn't mean it's gospel. They were supposed to be at work, they were not and the pax suffered. PERIOD.

MrAeroMan,

Maybe you should edit that first name basis thing....on second thought nahhhhh..
