Drawing attention  to ones plight kind of goes hand in hand with gaining equality.  If no one knows there is a problem, kind of hard to fix it.

I think they would just prefer you shut up and deal with your rights being violated with out them having to hear about it.  Similar to the way lots of white felt about blacks. No reason to sit in dinners or the front of busses.  No reason to march or set up protests.  Just do it quietly.  Is that so much to ask for?

Not surprising that the two of you would equate sexual positions and parades with equality in regards to marriage, survival rights. and everything else that heteros take for granted.
