Yep.  I have no religious beliefs so that is not a factor.  My love for my wife did not change from the day before we were married to the day after.  I do not need a piece paper from the state to declare my commitment to her.  If you need a piece of paper to prove you are not leaving your spouse or that you love them  bI feel sorry for you.
 
As for me it was a simple contractual commitment that gave her certain benefits.  The most valuable of which was health care.   While ACA is a good start especially for those with out any coverage, I only pay $90 a month for the two of us.  Cant beat that.

As stand alone legislation I don't agree with it but I think this thread had drifted enough so I won't go into it. There are enough threads about immigration to keep you entertained.
