A vital question in all this is what are the rights of the West? Can they withdraw from single contract negotiations and return to their own? They were pretty well on in the process weren't they? It has become evident that US is not negotiating in good faith and wasting their time. East accepted an abysmal bankruptcy contract with a 2011 end date, West did not. Subjecting them to this extended delay in obtaining a new contract is intolerable. It is clear to most of us that Parker et al intends to ride this to 2011, at which time it will then become useful to settle under the threat of a strike. (Assuming we're still here, and he probably intends to be long gone by then.)
West has been denied the only intrinsic power available to labor: the threat of strike or in our case CHAOS. East can provide support, and in adhering to our rules eg. not flying West metal, assist in the pursuance of CHAOS. Also, it is my humble opinion that West would benefit from the adoption of many of East attitudes with regard to their position vis a vis the company. (Translation: you take WAY too much garbage Ladies and Gentlemen.)
I would very much like to know the fine print on this. I am not interested in how and why this happened, just whether or not it can be undone. In the end, if it can be undone, it's their decision, which I think we should support wholeheartedly, they got one lousy profit sharing check for giving up their rights to a new contract.
