CBC - Last week, the military discovered a leak in a fuel line in a helicopter based at Comox, B.C. A similar leak was found on another helicopter based at Gander, Nfld., last autumn.

Bad news for the Comorant supporters? or just that east-coast winter causing havoc again?

Geez, I have found fuel line leaks on brand new Dash 6s, B737s and S76s so what?

This is another a look at how knee jerk the military is when dealing with the slightest snag that has made it to the public media. I don't know how long the "restricted duty" could be - but probably no longer than the time to either change the line, tighten the fitting or re-route something. In the real world that would probably be a couple hours at best or maybe a day or so for an AOG line. Of course our military is once again under the gun by the media. What's going to be tomorrows headline??

Perhaps

MILITARY FINDS AIR IN FUEL TANKS

Today in Ottawa, the Chief of the Air Staff Admitted that air has been found in many fuel tanks of Canada's aging (CF-18 fleet. This condition often ocurred after the rare occurence called flight. It has been a long awaited admission by the DnD that air occurs not only in the CF 18 but other as-to-be-named aircraft flown by Canada's military. As a result, all flights have been cancelled until the air has been removed - usually by a substance known as Irving Oil Gold.

Watch CBC tonight as Peter Mansbridge - ex baggage smasher from Thompson, relates how he found air in many aircraft before but it was covered up by suspicious charchters generally known as refuellers or pilot wannabes.

10 Pm across Canada and who-the-hell-knows what time on the Rock

🙂 🙂

ummmm?

Hasn't it taken 30 to 35 years to put the Sea Kow on restricted duty and now the Rants are being put on resticted duty already???

Very doubtful this was the first leak of it's kind, most likely occured on several airframes at same spot in the line.

As for "Rant".....no no no, the nickname for the Cormorant is the "Shag" which is what fishermen call cormorants (the actual bird). Don't know why fishermen call those birds by that name but the Air Force guys are all over that handle and it's sticking.

Who doesn't want to be known as a Shag Driver, yeah baby....
