Could US & SWA do a codeshare?

Actually, I would not be surprised at all to see a code-share relationship between WN and US develop for international connections at PHL. Obviously, the logistics of this combination could be a bit complex - particularly with the 2 reservation systems. With a forward thinking managment team, I could even see WN financing and/or partially funding a few previously ordered 332s for near term delivery and expansion to support the additional loads.
Hmmmm, lets see: WN is hesitating to upgrade / spend money on their computer system so that it can handle a simple code-sharing between USA-Canada with Wesjet, a WN clone, but instead it is going to jump right into a code-sharing deal, an international *** code-sharing deal, with US, an airline that is almost the complete oppossite. Yeah, it makes perfect sense! 🙄 🙄 🙄

*** I realize Canada-USA is international, maybe trans-border and trans-Atlantic would be better terms?

Plus WN is Boeing. Single type, not 50 different seating ways to deal with as with US. Their 737-300's and their 737-700's all have the same amount of seats. Just their few 737-500's which they put on the light routes at a days notice. Plus how the hell to you expect them to walk from A-West to Terminal E? Never going to happen. This is one merger or partnership that Doug Parker has not a shot at.

I highly doubt that Doug Parker has any interest in merging with Southwest Airlines.

LCC aka US

Your point?

Locally around the time when WN expressed interest in the slot deal, there was a US flight and on the baggage belt it announced both US Airways XXXX and Southwest XXX. Mean anything?

Probably not. I noticed at STL recently that a single bag carousel in the baggage claim aread had something like 4 different airlines' next flights listed as being delivered there.

Maybe you misunderstood me or I misunderstood you...It was a US Airways flight at US Airways' baggage claim and WN does not fly to my city.

And, I would know what city you are in...how? Given that new information, it is a puzzler. However, I wouldn't use that incident to bet the rent money that there is a codeshare with WN in your future.

Guys, the company can't just codeshare with anyone they please. International airlines that go to places we don't, yes. Other domestic airlines, no. Codeshare has been allowed for United because of the Star alliance.
We 'code-share' with the express carriers like Republic as a consequence of the outsourced flying, as permitted by the scope language of the pilot's contract.
It would take an act of the almighty for the pilot group to 'okey dokey' a codeshare with any other domestic airline, as it is a STUPID idea to outsource your job.
Duh.

AA & B6 agreement is just to interline bag, nothing more. Besides doesn't WN have an agreement already with US to provide transportation to PIT employees to work in PHL. What would US do when their senior mama's could not commute to PHL international, and the joy of watching the race to beat the juniors to the WN gate to commute on a first come first served basis?

What on EARTH does this have to do with a codeshare agreement?
