It's hard to believe! This man has the responsibility of the mess at PHL, the Christmas Meltdown, and the promotion of MS. Palidini!!! He is one of the most disrespected exec's in the company. I am convienced he is covered by Teflon...it seem's sh*t just bounces off him.

Dear Doug,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and dissapointment with your decision to promote Al Crellin to the position of Executive VP Operation of the merged HP/US.

Al Crellin is single handedly responsible for US Airways disastrous performance in the area of PAWOBS, on time performance, poor in-flight service levels and a disgusting operation in Philadelphia. Al Crellin is representative of the “old boys club" of Crystal City management and will do nothing but spread this cancerous attitude throughout the management of the new US Airways.

I urge you to speak with the thousands of passengers every day who either misconnect transiting Philadelphia or lose their bags transiting this, the “crown jewel†of the US Airways system. Al Crellin has failed to correct these problems for years, despite acknowledging their existence, blaming them on employees.

The following is a report card of Al Crellin’s performance at US Airways:

1) From 1st to WORST in OTP
2) Highest PAWOB rate in the industry
3) Drastically low aircraft appearance standards
4) PHL 2004 Christmas Meltdown
5) Inadequate staffing models in ATOs/Res throughout the system

Al Crellin’s performance has earned him an F.

Please reconsider his appointment to this position—this, I beg of you, as a longtime US Airways employee. US Airways employs the best front line staff in the industry. All of the airline’s financial and operational problems can be attributed to the poor decisions of the current and former management teams in DCA but particularily Al Crellin.

Doug, if you want to revitalize employee morale, do everyone a favor and don’t let Al “Get on Boardâ€.

Signed,
Hharotz

I dont have much to judge the man on except for this. I checked him in once. I told him, "Hi Mr. Crellin, thanks for sending us Rick Pelc." the best manager CLT ever saw. I was totally ignored, not even passing eye contact, he just grabbed his boarding pass and walked off. My thoughts were what a little prick. Id always heard lots of negative things about him from former PSA folks, and so i figured id just been Crellinized. Sorry to hear he made the cut. I was hoping he would be a cast off. Oh well, 98 more days and i'm outta here!!!!

Can anyone post the full Senior Mgt line-up for the full entity (asuming that is what was posted on theHub)? Just curious ...

from USAirways today:
Dear America West and US Airways Employees:

Just over two months ago, we announced our plans to
merge America West and US Airways. Since that time,
we have made tremendous progress. We have reached
agreements with two additional investors, bringing the
total amount of new equity investment supporting the
transaction to $565 million. We have also obtained
clearance from the Department of Justice for our
proposed merger, and just last Friday, we obtained the
ATSB's consent for the merger. We are pleased that
our plans to close on the merger agreement by early
fall remain on track.

One important step is to determine the organizational
structure for the new airline and assign areas of
responsibility to individual executives. As we've
already announced, Doug Parker will become chairman,
president, and CEO of the merged company and Bruce
Lakefield will become vice chairman. There will be
three key areas that report to Doug: operations,
marketing and administration. We plan to recommend to
the new airline's board that three extremely talented
individuals be elected to oversee these functions:

Operations: Al Crellin, currently US Airways executive
vice president, operations, will have responsibility
for the merged airline's operations, including safety,
flight operations, maintenance, airports and inflight
services. Al will retain his title of executive vice
president, operations.

Marketing: Scott Kirby, currently America West
executive vice president, sales and marketing, will be
responsible for revenue management, information
technologies, scheduling/planning, marketing, sales,
alliances, distribution and reservations. Scott will
retain his title of executive vice president, sales
and marketing.

Administration: Jeff McClelland, currently America
West executive vice president and chief operating
officer, will become executive vice president and
chief administrative officer. America West Chief
Financial Officer Derek Kerr and General Counsel Jim
Walsh will retain their current areas of
responsibility and will report to Jeff. Other areas
reporting to Jeff will include human resources, labor
relations and the owned affiliate operations.

Two additional areas, public affairs and
communications, also will report to Doug. Overseeing
those areas, respectively, will be C.A. Howlett,
currently America West senior vice president, public
affairs and Elise Eberwein, currently America West
vice president, corporate communications.

Over the next few weeks, the rest of the officer team
will be selected and we will continue to work through
the organization to ensure we assemble an outstanding
leadership team and that everyone is given a fair
opportunity to be part of that team. Our goal is to
have the entire management team announced and ready to
go on the day we close the transaction this fall.

We are moving as quickly as we can while ensuring we
are making thoughtful decisions for the new airline.
We will continue to communicate with you often
throughout this process, so keep your questions
coming. In the meantime, thank you for continuing to
take care of our customers.

What is the basis for your assumption? Has it been stated publicly?

Customers like us join you in being deeply concerned if your statement is true.

We have been very vocal that this is one person who needs not to stay.
My best to you all...

There is only one logical explanation for this, it's a law of Physics:
S##T FLOATS

I'm really appalled. Out of all the possible US execs to choose, they chose the one worst possible option, and gave him a position of power.

Hopefully we'll see some better selections when the mid-level execs are announced.

The other selections were pretty much no-brainers. Our CFO is just a stand-in, waiting to be replaced. Since Ashby's gone, there's nobody from US in that spot either.

But did anybody else notice that it looks like Chiames is out of a job, or at least getting demoted big-time?

I'll come out of the woodwork for this one.

I am assuming Lakefield went to Parker and said something like
"Hey Doug, we've dealt Al a bad hand; no money to work with, furloughs
left and right, employees angry at their pay cuts. Al took it like
a trouper and never complained. Give him a break."

Crellin may not be the man for the job, but to judge him solely
on USAirways performance during bankruptcy, when the company
was hoarding cash, is unfair IMHO.

PS...I am not Al Crellin nor have I ever met the man.

You know another thing to consider is that Doug, from his past history, does not tolerate excuses from his staff. They are there to do a job and if they can not preform it, they will be replaced.

Al was chosen for a reason and Doug I am sure has given him expectations. If he doesn't preform like you say he won't, excuses will not buy him time. Doug is very good at seeing though people bs'ing him.

What a joke. Just when you think something GOOD might happen, this wonderful news greets us. I'm stunned. The most incompetant person in management at U has just done it again.

This sucks.

This must be your 5th post (total) where you don't actually use the word "regards"

Is this a "Done Deal", or just a recommendation to the new Board of Directors???

<_< Well...the time has come.....copy and paste the letter addressed to Mr. Parker from this posting board into a word document, copy it, sign it, post it, and best of all mail it!

I hope bags and bags of mail come to the offices in Tempe. We as surviving employees must be heard. Good luck to US all!

Thanks for listening!
