Just heard through the grapevine that a lav truck was just planted into a 737-400 in DCA. Maybe it was one of the new highly trained professionals which U just put online from one of their job fairs.

Or it could have been a highly experienced ,senior employee driven to distraction by the events that have unfolded recently. Which is worse?

Either one, they don't have to worry about that Xmas Bonus

Let's see...you are talking about USAirways, and you are talking about non-management personnel...and you have the audacity to use the word "Bonus" in the same sentence?

Don't know about that one, but this past Tues., a 20 year emp.at Fll tried to drive his tug away from the gate. Problem was it was still attached to the a/c. A/C door got recked, flight cx., crew (5) sent back to the inn. Full flight, another overnight X 5, damage to a/c. Flight was to go FLL DCA MHT. What do you think that cost?

A mechanic pushed the aircraft back while a lav truck was behind the airplane and the aircraft sustained fuselage damage. Utility employees were on the truck and a Fleet service agent was the wing walker. Don't know if the Fleet agent was a new hire, but the others involved were not. They were our experienced employees.

Hawk

Great to see you back. I was hoping we might enjoy your comments on my lipstick thread. I'm looking forward to them.

And I might add I hope you enjoy the ads that are coming your way.

Thanks for the clarification Hawk. I know how rumors spread around that place and its nice to get the correct information.

Interesting that a mechanic was doing the push back.. Hmmmm.. I seem to remember that the mechanics were removed from pushback functions oh say two contracts ago..

Care to clear that up?

Utility person.. Now you think they really care?

This to me is really sad. Ground accidents are from a lack of personal dicipline, there really are no reasons for them to happen. Its always someone with a head up the butt, or someone in a rush. Revenue loss from this type of studity industry wide needs to cease!

Denver, CO

In my opinion, things are gonna get a whole lot worse before they get better. It's the nature of the beast, so to speak.

These employees drop the ball. Accidents do happen but this one should not have if they were doing their jobs properly.

I thought the CCY brain trust made the mechanics give back R&D in the first bankruptcy.

But let's forget that--who are you, and how do we know you are not making this up? Without some demostration that you have any cause to say, I can only conclude that you are full of it, and have no more information on this than Keith Alexander watching out the window of whichever horrid RJ he was forced to take out of DCA.

In the first BK, Mechs still pushed at CLT, DCA, LGA, PHL and PIT, after the latest final offer no more mechanics pushing airplanes.

Maybe Hawk is not correct on who was pushing the plane.

couple of years ago while we were waiting in the blocks short of 19 the tower told us to call ops....seems the ground crew left part of the tow bar attached to the nose! I always thought it took guts to recognize after the fact the mistake....own up to it...call in and catch us before we blasted out of there with God-only-knows the consequences.

i've often wondered if the results would've been different in say....PHL.
