Deauthorization Election / WHAT IS A DEAUTHORIZATION ELECTION?

This has nothing to do with US Airways and it refers to the NLRA, airline union employees fall under the RLA.

Oh Yeah,
National Right to Work [for less]

The only union position I've ever had (UFCW) paid less in real and take home (after dues) than the same nonunion job down the street at a different place.

Clue,
Wow, What position did you hold ?
Sounds like a great deal, Are you still working there ?
How much were you paid at both places ?
Did you quit Krogers and go work at Harris Teeters ?
Benefits the same ?
I never experienced such a thing.

insp89,

It depends on your specific skill set and the industry you're in.

Way Way back in 1973 when I first started working as a Pressman in the Printing Trades I got a union job that paid $5.10/hr which was damn good. What shocked me was TOS was only like $6.50/hr.

I hated the job and took a different one in a non union plant for $4.00/Hr with all kinds of incentives. By the time I had been there 6 months and gotten competent AND fast I was able to hit all the incentive gates and earned roughly $7.00/Hr.

So it really depends on the industry. It's also a personal decision to work union and some don't like being forced to join a union
It's not forced. It's accreted. 😉 Either way, no, some don't like it and you can count me as one of those.

State laws do not govern contracts under the RLA.

For Example, NC is a RTW state and in order to work for US in any classification that is unionized you MUST join the union.

Gee Bob, how come you did not know this?

Gee guess you dont like to be shown to be wrong or not know something!

Now go break and enter into a coworker's office and steal things from them and leave me alone.

Ya know..... nevermind. Lets move it along or there will be plenty of time for all involved to find something else to do for a while. Thanks.

Well, actually you don't.....

I could become a non-member at any time though I'd still have to pay almost the same to ALPA as a non-member as I do as a member. But I could choose not to be a member.
