"I would say, if I could decide, buy the airbuses, the rights to all Caribbean and Europe and build up CLT and FLL. The rest of our sytem either has too much of a lcc dogfight (thanks US) or is a mess (PHL).

You guys, learn a lesson from US Airways. Stay where you have dominance and fight to keep it that way. Don't give SWA or any LCC a foothold in your market."

Don't worry, not going to trash you. BUT, aren't you contradicting yourself? One hand NW build up CLT & FLL (east coast) On the other hand, you say stay where you have dominance and fight to keep it that way. Keep the LCC's out of NW's market. (midwest) Which is it? NW only has bases in BOS and NYC for international flying, not to compete domestically.

Let me see if I can articulate this one. You guys are pretty protected where you are, but if for some reason you DID want or need to expand thru a US fire sale, anywhere at that point would be more competitve. I guess anywhere you would want to put your caribbean/central American flts would be ok since overnight you would have the second largest presence in that area...next to American. I just decided on CLT for selfish reasons. If you look at where we go in the caribbean, it IS very impressive. I know many will poo-poo FLL, but I do feel south Florida needs an alternative to Miami, so I am more optimistic. A south Florida hub or "focus city" is always important to complement so much established caribbean and central American service. Plus, you guys have 320's, so if they are compatible, that would work. Just a bunch of blah, blah, blah i know. I mean, I don't want us to go under. I'm just looking at the different scenerios. I'm not a ceo and I may make no sense...just conversation. Ciao.
