The news from DL agents and apparently info on the delta.com website (although I can't find it, someone in the DL forum on FlyerTalk referenced it), DL will be moving its operations from A-East to terminal D where NWA will also consolidate (from E) on or about 1/15/2010

This will free up those gates at A-East again for international flights, but I wonder how this will affect US TA operations. Are there any new cities in Summer 2010 that weren't operated last year?

Delta had a crj parked at the end of the D gates this morning. Maybe just parked out of the way. Who knows as there was no jetway attached or stairs.

That's good news if it pans out.

I don't think any new international cities have been announced for next summer.

But we now have room for the Peking flight that starts in March!

Ooops!

Never mind.

There have been no new cities announced and I doubt any will be. But on top of that there are 4 (?) less TA flights than last summer, so US should have plenty of space

Now US will have a gate for the CLT-FCO flight when it diverts for fuel!

Look for the Anchorage flights to arrive there. That way they dont have to preclear when leaving Alaska. 🙄

Moderator note--the inflammatory remark about east vs. west has been removed, as well as the comment responding to it.

Happy New Year everyone....

Well hopefully US having fewer flights coupled with Delta moving out of A-east will prove a better ramped up T/A season for 2010. God knows Tempe needs all the help they can get. 🙄

I think that was a Pinnacle or Mesaba flight that was still operating on the Northwest side of the house but already had Delta paint.
But NW is in Terminal E They didn't move over to D yet! Air Tran gotta move out!

Maybe the DL CRJ was there so that they could verify/test/insure the jetway(s) they'd be using in advance of the move. Otherwise, it sounds like a parking spot.

Airtran moved out of D in early December

Yea, it may be just a spot for an aircraft to RON

AirTran will temporarily move to E until E renovation id finished. Doesn't make sense, but that's what I heard. Eventually E will be all WN. Possibly up to 150 WN flights a day.

I have a feeling when WN gets their ops all in one location they will ramp up. They're doing it in DEN. US is absolutely, positively no threat to them. They will expand and take advantage of the large O&D market as US does. Sure US will hold it's own but it will put some more muscle on them. WN's total gate number may not increase that much but they will ramp up once consolidated IMO.

Actually if WN gets all of "E", they will have at least 16 gates - 6 more than I believe they now have. Noting that Southwest is paying for a new 7 Gate Fanned end of "E" - which is part of the 2 level "E" expansion/overhaul and includes redesigned and expanded baggage claim areas and 23 new ticket counters - all scheduled for completion at the end of 2010. Ironically by then, the airline industry could be recovering to more acceptable performance levels and WN may not hesitate to expand PHL to 100+ daily flights.
