if you read the history of what has been posted on this forum, you would see that I have indeed posted alot of positive things about DL - and just like the original post on this thread - they received few to no responses.
.
Like or not, but controversy sells while saying something positive is rarely welcome.... you can check "postiive" postings by other members throughout this forum and most are turned into debates and heated controversial discussions.
.
But of course part of the issue also is that alot of people here don't want to see comparisons of "their" airline to Delta - and there are a couple of points on that regard.
First is that alot of people take what is said on these forums way too personally. Airlines are companies... not people.. .not your family and not your mother. You don't make comparisons to someone else's mother unless you want to get knocked up the side of the head. But airlines are businesses which are regularly compared to other airlines both as businesses and as organizations - and those comparisons are regularly made by Wall Street, the government, and consumer groups. In most cases, what is said about airlines here has no reflection on the individuals posting here... no one's personal reputation rests on the actions of their employer or travel supplier. A little recognition about the nature of the airline industry as a business which is indeed compared to other businesses would go a long ways to reducing the angst some feel about what I post.
Second, DL is running a very good airline and business and other companies honestly don't look quite as good in comparison. I argued for years - and the posts are here to show it - that DL would strongly reorganize, expand and grow, and become a much stronger and better force in the industry... and that is exactly what has happened.
I am nearing the tail end of a month of extensive travels throughout North and South America and Asia and have been or will be on about a dozen and a half flights on multiple airlines with about 1/3 on Delta international flights. I have also flown on some very well respected international airlines and I can tell you that DL's product, people, and operations compare very favorably with some of the best airlines in the business. Add in the fact that DL is running a very good business from a financial perspective and it isn't hard to see why DL has the highest market capitalization among US airlines and is poised to once again be one of a pretty small handful of airlines in the world that are posting more than a billion dollars of profits (operational or net) per year - and that in the midst of enormous financial and geopolitical instability throughout the globe.
IN an industry which has historically moved only from crisis to crisis, DL has figured out to succeed in the midst of difficulty.
Whether in aviation or in the larger business community, not alot of companies attain to the level of success that DL has found over the past five years and DL continues to improve.
.
That doesn't mean that other companies aren't doing a good job but there are few airlines that are doing as good of a job as DL is doing across the board... and even relatively minor awards like the "top tech friendly airline" award show that DL is doing things well in relation to other airlines.
Not everyone wants to see "their airline" compared to what DL is doing - even if whether the comparison is made or not doesn't change the competitive situation in the industry.
