I never been on a Delta MD88 or MD90. Is there in-flight entertainent on these planes? I have only been on DL on a 757, 732, 738, L10 and a DC8.

Another question, DL only had the MD88 or did they have others previously. I remember the seats on Port having 3 and starboard 2 seats.
MD-88 has 3 on Captain's side and 2 on FO's side
MD-90 has 2 on Captain's side and 3 on FO's side
Why? I don't know.

I believe that they were 2/3...opposite of the MD88.
Then I believe I did fly DL around 1971. I remember taking a DC-8 from Philadelphia to San Francisco. We connected to the DC-8 from a DC-9. I am not sure where we connected at. I was young and remember the planes.

Back in the 60's I remember riding in the back of the DC-6/7's, it was all they way in the back, the seats were in a semicircle around the back. They called it the crown room. I dont believe they had a first class back then, at least not on that a/c.

In the 70's we sat in the front of the Convair 880's at a table with aft and forward facing seats, again very cool. We could play cards on the table and eat like at home. The cards were given out by "Hostesses" (sp) and mom and dad smoked complimentary cigarettes in first class.

My sister wore her sunday dress and I my little suit complete with clip on tie (must have been all of 6inches in length!!). Back in the day when nonrevin was truly a benifit and appreciated by employees and their family, the company also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the employee and thus gave this benifit gratefully.

PS: If you touched the call button and bothered the "Hostess" while she was tryin to take care of the important people (ie: revenue) you got your hand smacked and a scolding from mom!!

Those were the days...

Not that it's completely relevant, but the first several MD-88's were actually delivered to Delta as MD-82's and later converted.
