The choice is not whether labor groups can bargain with management or shareholders to give up more value. There is nothing more to give.. The choice is whether to give the Debtors a fighting chance to survive. In the survival scenario, employees may then choose whether to stay at the reduced levels of compensation or to seek a new job. In the failure scenario, individual employees have no choice at all –they would be forced to find a new job, even if they would have preferred to stay in the Debtors’ employ. When the equities of this situation are rightly considered, the balance clearly favors the Debtors.
