Wrong!!!

Thurgood Marshall was the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court. He was nominated by President Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat.

Clarence Thomas was appointed by Bush 41 to fill Marshall's seat upon his retirement. When Thomas was nominated by the first President Bush, Bush denied that Thomas was chosen because he was black and made the preposterous claim that Thomas was "the best qualified" man for the job.
You're right! I completely forgot about Thurgood Marshall. Although I think my point still stands, i.e. that while many Dems talk the talk, they don't walk the walk in terms of placing minorities and/or females in positions of power. Perhaps because they tend to be elitists.

I'm blonde, blue eyed Scottish, Irish, and JEWISH (and of course, AMERICAN)!!!!! It's possible.
It's funny how many people confuse race/religion/culture. Jewish refers to religion and, to some extent, culture. Probably 99%+ are Caucasian. It isn't unknown for some Jews to even be Irish. I think back in the 50s the Mayor of Dublin was a Jew. Arabs and Indians (India indians) are also Caucasian, though, especially with the latter, you wouldn't think so. I recall a friend telling me about some troublemakers at a Cleveland Indians baseball game. When I asked if they were white, he said no, they were Italian. 😀 Some people had the weirdest notions about race.

AG that reminds of my junior high years, we had an exchange student from spain. blond hair, blue eyes, very fair skin. at the time i could not equate this since growing up in texas i presumed all spanish speaking people were dark skinned, black hair, brown eyes! ahhhh youth and the naive innocense 🙂

President Bush WON the first count in Florida. He WON the first recount. He WON the second recount. He WON the third recount. He even WON the attempts by the left wing press (NY Times, et al) to go in and hand count all the ballots. (Imagine their disappointment when they got the results of their counts..."Oh no.... he DID win! arrrghhhhhhh.... there goes our headlines..... make sure we bury this story on page 34, ok?")

If you knew anything about the US Constitution, you would know the Supreme Court did not select President Bush. They merely did not go along with the democrat's plan to selectively recount in a very small fraction of the counties of Florida, hoping to change the election results.

If the result would not have been certified via the statewide popular vote - it would have gone to the Florida legislature for final determination. The legislature would have voted for President Bush. Period. End of Story. But, it didn't get that far. The state certified the vote properly after the legal recount process was completed.

Take a look at the county by county map of the US and you will see how overwhelmingly Bush beat gore. If you don't like the Electoral College system of electing our President, please use your Congressional Representatives to propose an Ammendment. If you don't know the President is not selected by popular vote - if you don't know what the Electoral College is.... please read the US Constitution and lose your ignorance.

Especially true with "Jewish." For example, one might say "I'm Italian and Catholic," or "I'm English and Protestant," or "I'm Chinese and Buddhist." The Jewish equivalent is to say "I'm Jewish and Jewish." Thus, "Jewish" in the first instance refers to a racial/cultural background, while in the second refers to a religion. Madonna is Jewish in the second sense. Kerry is (partially) Jewish in the first...I don't know about his religious affiliation, though.

The mother of a friend is Spanish. She finds it insulting to be called Hispanic. Spaniards in her mind (and she's probably right) are the same as most other Europeans in terms of race. Hispanics resulted from the Spaniards coming to the New World and "mingling" with the native indians in South/Central America (Aztecs, Incas, whatever).
