I think that CO is a great addition to *A, and that US is a very important piece of the puzzle. The route structure is very complimentary. If you super imposed all three carriers route maps over one another, you basically have the perfect alliance for traveling anywhere in the US.

Good observation and very true. But US was left out of the ATI deal.

I think someone on here said it best when they said the *A wouldn't care if US remained or left the group. I'm not saying that US doesn't bring anything to the table but what it does bring isn't much. Certainly nothing that would make the *A crumble in US's absence. UA and CO are light years beyond the US product. You basically don't see the US Airways name in one article about CO joining *A. Why wasn't US included in UA and CO's little agreement? Because they didn't need to include US.

I agree on both counts. CO is a great airline and treats its best customers very well. And, I have so many miles left on US and I look forward to finally using them on CO so I can let my DM account disappear into oblivion.

Off-topic, but I flew to AVP yesterday on CO. The Presidents Club had a table set up with matzah, and Kosher for Passover butter, jelly & cream cheese. There was a sign on the table that said "Happy Passover." It was a lovely touch for those who observe Passover.

Actually the other day an F passenger told me that the lounge serves the same exact snacks as we do in F. I really find it quite sad and once again proves how cheap and tacky the leadership is around here. Talk about a group of people that are completely unable to think outside the box!!

Ok lounges. Here is a PRIME example of what US offers vs. the competition. How can ANYONE for the life of them admit or try to convince anyone that US is in line with the offerings of the other carriers. If they company believes this to be true they really are out of their minds. I have been in a few and let's just say blown away. It goes FAR, FAR beyond furnishing the place with new carpet, chairs and tables. The offerings at lounges from Delta, American, Continental and United BLOW US away. Just unreal. 🙄

I don't particularly care for DL CC's unless they run them like the NW WC's. NW had really nice lounges in my opinion. AA's are ok--you do pay for booze and most food (some free snacks), but they have desktop computers to use for free and showers. CO PC's are nice. Some have showers. Free booze, free internet, free snacks and premium booze like Patron for sale and discounted if you have a certain credit card. US's Clubs are definitely not in line with any of their competitors. But, then again, nothing "premium" US offers is in line with other competitors. I flew NW (the new DL) the other day and the F/A's are already wearing their DL uniforms and the snack basket in First is a combo of what NW and DL offered (snacks and fresh fruit). They are "giving away" Twix bars in First. Even though I wasn't choking on the dust from the merger (you know the same dust people flying US are still choking on), the new DL will be out of business before you know it doing stupid stuff like that.

I wish US was included in the ATI with us at CO and UAL. I think if the three of us teamed up and worked with each other not only internationally, but domestically and aligned our product, we would be a power house like AF/KLM without the marriage.

Since I don't know butkus about your screwed up industry, I'll give my opinion. LH(that is Luftansa, right? They are basically the founders of the SA, right?) I posted elsewhere that LH loves Charlotte and US is the dominant force. Is it rocket science or just good business logic?

God knows I've been wrong before but if LCC loses its SA status it is truly doomed.I still believe that a future merger between UA and US will come to be.

I also believed that the $2 coke charge was a good idea
