After 16 years in aviation, I am calling it quits. I spent 9 years in military aviation and 7 in civilian. I am now working in a corporate fight dept maintaining 4 Gulfstream aircraft. It is a rewarding career, but a frustrating one. In my opinion, the pay does not match the dedication. I am moving on to similar work at a higher pay and a better schedual, in short, a better quality of life.
This was a dificult decision. I am writting this to see what others think.

Sad to be leaving, but excited about a new start.

Anything you do will eventually become just a job. Very few people find a job that they are happy everytime they wake up to go to work.

This seems like a step up for you... more money and more time off.... I'd take it. It doesn't mean that you have to totally write off aviation, you could still do things on the side as a hobby.

I agree, join a local aviation club, and share you interest and experience with those that have the same passion as you. Besides, this will be an avenue to continue flying on your terms, and just for the enjoyment of it all.

I think you will find that when you find a job you really love and admire, the money dont really matter all that much....
