Doug Paker Merger Q&A with Arizona Republic

I don't see any promises of fleet growth or career stability in Parker's plan. In fact, DALPA believes that there will be numerous pilot layoffs and career instability. Then there is the merging with an extremely senior US pilot group that brings very little to the table in terms of widebodies and international opportunity.
The only ones who will gain here are the US pilots.
I just said that was one way to buy off pilots, not THE way it is going to happen. I just have little faith in the fortitude of any labor group, esp. pilots.

IMO the DAL pilots will not go along with the deal until they have no choice, and then they will make the best of things, and do what they can for themselves alone. and in the same light Parker will not offer them anything more unless he feels he has to.

Either way, much like the DOJ, I just dont see the DAL Pilots as a serious roadblock, otherwise the proposal would have never been forwarded.

Remember that "pissed off employees" is far from being a deal breaker in airline reorganizations.

Like I said, as a member of the unsecured creditors committee, the pilots constitute more than a "pissed off employee". They represent a major creditor.
In regards to Parker offering more when he has to,... he has very little to offer the Delta pilot group that is of any substance.
Delta's disclosure statement will be heard on February 7th. If it is approved by the court, and there is no reason is should not be, DL will start to solicit voting on its POR. US has presented is proposal directly to the unsecured creditors committee. At this point there is little left to be revealed since Doug is apparently taking a wait and see approach. The only real unknown at this point is whether or not another suitor will show up.

Sorry dude but I have seen pissed off employees before who didn't amount to nothing when their ch!th@d leaders cast a vote. (just look at the USAir industry pension wrecking committe who paraded as an MEC)

Maybe there is something different in the water in Atlanta, but I doubt it.. The money is green there, same as anywhere else.. 🙄

When the "Proffesionals" almost ran over a Continental aircraft in the north atlantic....

The FAA sent the "Proffesionals" to USAIRways to learn international procedures.....

I could INSTANTLY be in favor of this Merger if it sent Johnny O and his putrid airline out of my life. Another 18 months of chaos and silliness would be a small price to be rid of them!!!!

Anyone see the picture of Doug Parker in the paper regarding this article? He sure looks like he has put on some LBs...and a turkey neck.

Looks like the stress is getting to him...maybe he can next try to merge with Jenny Craig! :blink:
