I decided to broaden my horizons tonight and headed north to go out. Thought it would be nice to get out of DTW for a while. I ended up in a little bar just south of Troy, Mi., sporting my Proud to be a NWA Scab hat of course. It proved to be a very interesting night. I actually met some really nice people for a change. I wonder if there is something in DTW's water that people shouldn't be drinking. Or maybe it’s their bumper stickers. I had a really good time up there. There might be something to this state after all. I must say though the people up there had a strange way of dancing. They basically line danced while moving in a circle. On top of that they had a different dance for every song and they all knew it. I sat there and laughed and laughed. A woman asked what I was laughing at and I said "Look they are line dancing in a circle." It took her a second or two to grasp what I was saying but finally caught on. Different strokes for different folks I recon. My NWA hat didn't draw much attention or questions though and I was somewhat disappointed about that. No dirty looks or anything, I had a great time any way though. I think I shall venture out away from Detroit more often and explore what this state has to offer. Just one question though, How do you have a redneck bar with no rednecks? There's just something not right about a (wannabe) cowboy talking Yank.

You don't get out much do you PTO? Heres a little Geography lesson for ya! Michigan is considered a Midwest state, as is Minnesota, and Ohio, oh yes we can't leave out the Great cheese state Wisconsin and there are four more, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and missouri.
North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas also fall under this category but are actually called the Great Plains States.

Country & Western music is very Americana and has a wonderful history in this country. from California to New York and From Michigan to Florida people love to listen and dance to country music.

(wannabe) cowboy talking Yank ya say? Some of the best cowboys in the world come from a Continent down under, now there is an accent for ya!

You should really get out more and travel this vast beautiful country of ours, you may be surprised at what you can learn.

You don't have to reside in Texas and ride Bulls to be a cowboy, anymore than you have to be a cowboy to enjoy Country & western Music.

Regards, Local 12 Proud

Yes local you are geographically correct. But where I come from anyone living north of I-10 are considered Yanks. I have seen much of this country. I have driven from the east to the west coast a few times now and have had a great time doing it. I have lived in more states now than I care to admit to. You are also right about it being a beautiful country, I particularly like the Rockies.

Michigan can be one of the best places in the world to live, especially if your an outdoorsman. You are seing the worst part of the state, at the worst time of year. Grand Haven, Traverse Bay, Alpena, And just about all of the UP Are fantastic places to visit, and equally wonderful places to raise a family..
By the way, most Cajuns wont admit this, but the only difference between them and a UPer, (pronounced YOO'PER) is the accent. Also, Michigan boasts one of the highest concentrations of red necks north of The Mason Dixon line. Just go to Nunica, Ravena, or Oscoda for proof!
At any rate, welcome to our state. Please dont judge it by that miserable corner in the south east.

We spend as much time as possible during the summer in Leland which is truly the best.
Now the winter is a different story.

CORRECTION. They're not called Rednecks in the FABULOUS state of Michigan. They are called : HILLBILLY

Now a "YOO'PER" thing is a new one for me. I've always heard it refered to as "YOU PEE" from where I am from. (the left side of the hand)
