Yea yea, Bush said in 2000 that we should not use the military to nation build and then he used the military to nation build.

Politicians lie. The winner is the one who can lie better than the other guy.

I think we've got to be very careful when we commit our troops. The vice president (Gore) and I have a disagreement about the use of troops. He believes in nation building. I would be very careful about using our troops as nation builders. I believe the role of the military is to fight and win war and therefore prevent war from happening in the first place. So I would take my responsibility seriously. And it starts with making sure we rebuild our military power. Morale in today's military is too low. We're having trouble meeting recruiting goals. We met the goals this year, but in the previous years we have not met recruiting goals. Some of our troops are not well-equipped. I believe we're overextended in too many places.

I'm still trying to understand why people are so surprised when politician lie. When their lips move there is a good chance they are lying.

I am not surprised politicians lie. I just can't believe that the main stream media isn't pointing out the lies and then they tell us there is no bias..... Is that the kind of reporting we want?

Were that the case, we would never have head so much about the blue dress and so little about Ginrichs affair. Bush bullied this nation with his 'with us or against us', 'mission accomplished' BS and the media only tuned against him after his approval rating started to drop. Hell, go back to 2000 and look at what he did to McCain. That hardly made a blip on the radar.

The only bias media has is to them selves and their viewer base. They are business and they are there to make money. There are examples of 'bias' on both ends of the spectrum. They are the print/tv/WWW version of a hooker. For the right price, they will tell you what ever you want to hear.

But that's the thing. It did not merit a story. Neither did Ginriches afair. It's private business. The 'liberal' media catered to the purient interests of the public. They were filling their coffers with advertising dollars following a story of no value. he OJ trial, Anna Nicole Smith, Angela Jolie and countless others. All head line news. NEWS?????? They are not news ... they are entertainment. A hummer in the Oval is entertainment. It is not news worthy. He broke no law. It became a story because people love that crap. Crap like this rarely made the news when Cronkite and others were anchors.

Then you have mental light weights like Dapoes basing election results on viewership of crap like this.

Rich can afford tax hike

President Obama told Californians during a campaign-style town hall meeting on Wednesday that rich people can afford to pay higher taxes in selling his budget plan as an investment in the nation's future.

Mr. Obama pushed back on people who say he is overtaxing the nation, saying his tax increases on families earning $250,000 or more a year are reverting to the tax system under former President Bill Clinton. The president added he will pay higher taxes himself as a result.

"These folks can afford it. They were rich back in the '90s," he said. "It's not like suddenly they're going to have to go to the poorhouse. But what that does is it allows us to pay for health care reform for a lot of people."

Going after a line of attack Republicans have used against him, Mr. Obama insisted, "I don't think that's unreasonable. I don't think that's socialism.

Someone asks me about my personal life I'll lie like a rug as well. Clinton's personal life had nothing to do with governing the nation and it was no one business. They were on a fishing expedition. They found something embarrassing, not incriminating. Had he lied about selling arms for hostages or about cooking intel on weapons in a country that were not really there, I can see here their would be a case. Getting ones knob polished and lying about it is irrelevant. Especially when the Speaker of the House was doing the same thing and lying about it.

Difference being Clinton lied to a grand jury and that is an impeachable offense and it goes directly to his honesty and integrity and ultimately his ability fo govern effectively.

It was a fishing expedition and it was BS. Integrity? You use that word in conjunction with a politician? That's funny as hell. The fact that he lied to a GJ about getting blown in the Oval has not got squat to do with his ability or lack there off to lead the nation.

I get your point about the impeachable offense. It pisses me off that a GJ was used to trap a guy for getting a hummer. At least nail him for fraud or selling arms for hostages or cooking intel to justify a war. The who blue dress BS demeaned the entire process of a GJ a far as I am concerned.

Then came the personal stuff. And it was in this more relaxed segment of the evening that Obama -- proudly claiming to have bowled 129 on the White House lanes -- made his one truly unfortunate remark.

"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said.

"It's like the Special Olympics or something," the president replied.

Now this is the sort of remark that, sadly, has become commonplace in contemporary humor. But it's nothing you'd want your president to say, or even to think.
