someone brought this up the other day and it has me thinking......

Whats the this possibility of the 190's being sold ? Sale to RP for a butt load of cash, another J4J deal out of it and EXPRESS titles added to the side. Or to put more salt in the wound not even painted on the side?

It sounds like a feasible scenario just due to the fact of what happened ala MDA. Please dont flame this post, I am serious.

What's the possibility? Ice cube's chance in hell.

Hell no. ALPA might have agreed in order to secure a 105hr pay cap. Thank goodness that shower of self serving **** **'s isn't here to give them away. Let me bring this up and you can think about it........what will be thought about is how the scope that has been given away can be taken back. That starts with E175s and E170s. 😛h34r:

I still can't understand how it is cheaper for mainline to pay someone else to fly our routes, buy their fuel, AND guarantee an 8% profit margin.....while mainline is struggling to eek out pennies of profit!
The contract carriers are flying mainline routes at well over mainline costs - I should think these carriers/routes/airplanes would be the FIRST to be cut in an economic downturn. Flying bigger airplanes with less frequency is more efficient/costs less than many RJs. The days of many frequencies in a market just to maintain market share are unsustainable. Less RJs and less (or zero) contract carriers should be in the gunsights of all airine execs.
Here's a novel idea - why doesn't mainline merge with Republic and make them a wholly owned like Piedmont?

Fine? In the short term, ok. But long term, Republic et al better hope that the industry remains strong. Contract carriers are like the little sucker fish that ride along with the sharks. They get a free ride, and gobble up what the shark leaves behind. If the shark dies, the ride is over. In my analogy, all the sharks are about to go belly up. No rides anymore...
It has been proven on a couple of occasions that regional carriers cannot stand alone because RJs are more expensive to operate than mainline jets on a per seat basis.
Contract carriers are a major leech, sucking the black out of the bottom line - and my question is: if the airline operation needs to be shrunk to raise fares, why not cut out the highest cost seats first?

I'm sure Doug would drop the RJ's if he could and has stated many times at crew news/ state of airline sessions that we have way too many 50 seaters. Problem is that they are under contract for a long time or the leases are not up.
Air wisconson - 9 yr contract
Mesa- not up untill 2010(not positive)
PSA- leases were renewed in BK#2 until 2012
Republic- only a few 50 seaters left not sure for how long

The 190 is a decent passenger experience

It holds close to 100 pax

Great for thin routes that are presently served by 737's or 319's

One less F/A

Sips Fuel compared to other aircraft

Last statement is most important fact

I doubt they will go anywhere because they are part of the future of the industry (or at least this cycle)

But anything can happen

Anything is possible, yes. I'd suggest that the company VERY much wants them right now...know why? They are replacing group 2 hulls at 50% of the payscales....

Any questions?

check it out yourselves.

Actually since the min fleet count does not take into consideration the 190's, they are not replacing grp 2 a/c. They may fly the same routes, but then again, so did mesa's crj-90's. Don't see very many of them any more in CLT....

Mesa's 900's are now being parked on the E gates in CLT.

The OP is a Republic pilot doubtful this just came up, those guys (RP pilots) have been salivating over that plane since it got here, if you listen to some of those blowhards they think they are buying this that and the other. sad that they would probably do anything to make it come through

Lets see what the NC reports after a few meetings with the company...I'll bet they bring it up...(including in the fleet count)...just a hunch that I hope doesn't happen...or, make it a group 2 aircraft...then fine.

Hey, a group 1 aircraft would be ok, too. Fokker 100 rates, of course adjusted for inflation...same size a/c.
If they want it in the fleet count, the pay definitely needs to increase.
