Eagle Announces Pilot Furloughs

American Eagle just announced the planned furlough of an additional 60 pilots. Per Letter 3/Supplement W no Eagle pilot on the property can be furloughed as a result of AA flowbacks. It appears that the TAs will fail now and Letter 3/Suplement W will be in affect. To make room for the AA flowbacks, Eagle is furloughing some pilots now blaming it on further schedule reductions. Looks like the plan for any additional RJs will be slated for somewhere other than Eagle. Hmmmmmmm? American Connection?

The additional training costs as a result of AA flowbacks at Eagle will make it cost prohibitive to bring any additional RJs to Eagle.

Below is the text of the email:

RE: ADDITIONAL FURLOUGHS

WITH THE DEEPEST REGRETS I WANT TO ADVISE EVERYONE IT
WILL BE NECESSARY FOR US TO FURLOUGH APPROXIMATELY
60 PILOTS. THE FIRST FURLOUGHS WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN JUNE
FOR APPROXIMATELY 25-35 PILOTS AND THE REMAINDER TAKING
PLACE IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.

THE REASON FOR THE FURLOUGHS IS A RESULT OF FURTHER
SCHEDULE REDUCTIONS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. THE
REDUCTION IN THE SCHEDULES IS THE RESULT OF MUCH LOWER
THAN EXPECTED ADVANCE PASSENGER BOOKINGS, PARTICULARILY
IN THE CARIBBEAN MARKETS. I REALIZE THIS IS NOT GOOD NEWS
AND WILL BE ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT FOR THE AFFECTED PILOTS.
HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET THROUGH THESE TOUGH TIMES IN THE
NEAR FUTURE.

REGARDS,

ED CRINER
VP, FLIGHT OPS.

Cleared Direct..

Didn''t the Eagle call back about 70 furloughs just a month or so ago.
You mean there going back to the street.
Many of them had another job resigned from that job becuase Eagle called them back now there on the street agian.

Not fair, not fair at all. It''s not easy to losse 2 jobs in a matter of months. Good Luck and may God help them all.
