Early out for M & R Sept. 4-Sept 25

Question: if one accepts the early out can one get unemployment benefits??

I hope those Yes voters who will take the early out will be stuck here until next year.
With that schedule so spread out AA has no idea when the current inhouse work will be farmed out.

Are you telling me that if you had something lined up you would not take an early out?

And no I'm not eligible for an early out.

Unemployment Benefits and the Early Out / Stand in Stead packages.

August 31, 2012

In the Employee Information Package General Information for TWU Employees Accepting an Early Out Incentive Package located on JetNet, it states in part:
“As a condition of accepting the Early Out Incentive Package and being approved, with respect to any claim for state benefits including unemployment compensation.”
Question:
Does this mean that if an employee accepts the Early Out that he must agree not to file for unemployment benefits?
Answer:
The answer is NO… Early Out or SIS payments do not impede or restrict an employee from filing for unemployment benefits. The State may not pay or may offset payment based on how much the employee receives but that does not mean they can’t file for it..

In some States you can get unemployement,but----in Mo. it was reduced by the amount of retirement you got!

Here's the Official Jetnet Link to the Early Outs and Stand in Stead Programs....

Dates, Numbers, Cobra Insurance Extensions and Cost.. It's all here..

You'll find in the documents that the company will not allow employees that accept the programs to file for unemployment benefits..

It's not really up to AA. It is up to each state to decide on the unemployment insurance payments.

Unemployment Compensation Insurance

NOTE: AA will contest all unemployment claims for voluntary program participants.

As a condition of accepting the Early Out Incentive Package and being approved, you agree not to contest the
voluntary nature of the resignation with respect to any claim for state benefits including unemployment
compensation. Eligibility for unemployment compensation is determined on a state-by-state basis. EO is a
voluntary program and American will take the position that you are not eligible and contest all unemployment
claims for voluntary program participants. Please refer to your local unemployment office for more information.
New York State only
Your Manager will give you Record of Employment Form #1A, 12.3 that is used for identification purposes when
applying for unemployment insurance. It contains the company registration number – 43-704-09.
Connecticut Only
Your Manager will give you an Unemployment Notice Form #UC-61 that is used when applying for unemployment
insurance. It contains the company registration number – 43-075-05.

AA can protest all they want, but states don't have to listen. AA wants to discourage you, in the end, it isn't their choice. That's the bottom line. If you take the money, I would file. All they can say is no. They just might say yes.

Wonder how many people have signed up for the early out and SIS.

I spoke with a labor law attorney here in Tarrant County Texas today. For what its worth, she said American Airlines cannot prevent the state from giving you unemployment compensation even if you take the early out, she also said that we would probably get it..
