23. Questions: Are the 737's going to be painted?
They have sheets of paint peeling and makes folks wonder about our maintenance.

Answer: Thanks for your question, and we do recognize the paint issues on the B737 fleet. Maintenance has elected to paint the west aircraft first to put them in the US Airways livery; however, on January 8th an east B737 paint line will start. This is a long process with the paint schedule running through 2008. In the interim, Maintenance is identifying the aircraft most in need of touchup and scheduling them. We cannot spray paint aircraft in our facilities due to EPA regulations so any action taken internally must be done by brush and roller. While this process is not the best cosmetically, it is our only option at this time.

N505AU arrived at Avborne at MIA on Jan 06 for repaint into the new US Livery with a tentetive complete date of Jan 25. Should be followed by N406US of BoeingBoys last flight fame!

Also, does anyone know if the EAST planes will receive some work done on the inside while the plane our being painted in the new colors. The 737 East planes are in bad shape: smelling and stained seat covers and cushions, rancid galley compartments and stringy carpets. We vacuum the carpets each night at ILM on the 737. The vacuum's get caught up in the strings nightly. Eventually, we finish vacuuming and the end result is still a nasty carpet.!

IS the 737 named "CHIP" still out there? Many east employees seem to Love "CHIP"? Anyone have a picture?

Hmmm lets see. They DO have closets and the galley up in the 737 is hardly used except for those occasional flights where you have to serve food like DFW or MSY. Don't put it past them to rip that out and have seats up to the doors.

I say we take up a collection to bribe the painter to add "Pacemaker Capt. Jim XXXXXX" below the left front window of 406.

(With the X's being his real last name, not used here for forum decorum.)

 Oh my god.....a brush and a roller? We have become the ultimate white trash carrier!

How are the west 737's configured?

I saw a 737 in new colors yesterday 1/10 out in front of the CLT hanger could not see the N# so don't know if it was east or west metal looked like a -300. Looked good though.

I saw randomly on FlightAware that there was an HP 733 flying from CLT-PHX yesterday or the day before. Don't know exactly why it was there or what it was for.

Looked good though.
I saw one of HP's 300's in the new livery at DFW back in Nov and you're right - it looked good. Personally, I expect the 400's will look even better since I like the new livery better on the longer planes - the "swooshes" look better stretched out.
