And thus concludes the history can't be altered experiment.

And why did allied bombers put a stop to Norwegian heavy water production?
German Jew scientists emigrated and fled here with the knowledge and fear that a fission device was not only theoretically feasible but also technologically possible to build under der Fuhrer in the thirties and were responsible for the start of our programs.
Einstein approached Roosevelt in 1939 because Leo Szilard, a refugee Hungarian physicist, tried to gain an audience with FDR but basically didn't have the street cred of Einstein and in the end, Einstein convinced and awakened FDR to the threat Szilard was trying to relay, thus starting the Manhattan Project out of fear of the German Atomic Bomb.
Why didn't Hitler persue the bomb to its fullest? Maybe for the same lame reasons he never used other weapons to their true potential like the ME-262.

Like the article you linked to said Why did they not beat the Americans in the race for atomic bombs? The short answer is that whereas the Americans tried to create atomic bombs, and succeeded, the Germans did not succeed, but also did not really try.

But FDR didn't know that at the time, It was the mere threat of the Germans succeeding that helped spawn the American effort.
BTW, you miss the part where Germany did make a device?
I think a big reason behind the info on MH 17 is because 1. we have wreckage 2. we know where the wreckage is. 3. we have an admission by the rebels that they shot down an aircraft (I think that still holds true but not sure if that info has been discredited) 4. we know that the rebels did not build their own ground to air system so they had to get it from somewhere. It was not the the US so that leaves Russia. 5. from the debris trail it is pretty easy to determine where the rocket came from 6. knowing what Russia gives to it's allies is not difficult to determine.PHXConx said:here is an interesting thought... thanks to snowden
we know that the NSA and the powers that be uses social media able to post social media posts that were false, able to provide "evidence" when needed
the same government that told us that mh370 just disappeared tells us that mh17 was absolutely shot down, it was the rebels, they used a BUK missile system, all a few hours after it happened...
noone else questions it because russia has been the big bad scary monster the USA has turned to for 97 years
maybe we should question it... im not saying it wasnt the rebels but to say it was with no real evidence makes you wonder did we learn anything from the snowden revelations?

No I did not miss it. But as the article said it's not even clear if the device even produced a nuclear reaction.
And yes the mere threat of a German bomb motivated the US to launch the Manhattan Project. Unfortunately for Germany their twisted policies lead to many of their top scientists to flee to America. Others ended up being drafted into the Whermahct, talk about a waste of talent.

They also knew how to compress it with explosives to get to critical reaction.
So I'd say they knew where they were going. If Hitler could have realized the terror of nukes.....maybe we be sprechen ze duetsch?

My point about social media is that we know based on the revelations from snowden and greenwald. That the us government has the ability and does hijack social media so any admission through twitter is suspect.Ms Tree said:I think a big reason behind the info on MH 17 is because 1. we have wreckage 2. we know where the wreckage is. 3. we have an admission by the rebels that they shot down an aircraft (I think that still holds true but not sure if that info has been discredited) 4. we know that the rebels did not build their own ground to air system so they had to get it from somewhere. I don't ever take the US government or any government at their word but this make a bit of sense in my opinion.

We are being fed a story and I'm not saying it's a lie. But after snowden we should be wanting more evidence than an alleged tweet. And should instead of piling on those big bad Russians we should question with healthy skepticism. A story that is easily explained away.
yea and the precision bombing we saw on CNN during the gulf war and what we saw on the gun tapes were two different things two very different things...delldude said:
my problem is that those of us that have been paying attention to this, and knew the others before snowden like tom drake and william binney. we arent surprised... but even with the massive dump of info from snowden we still let them get away with oh we tracked that we know where that came from, though just yesterday the pentagon said they didnt know who or where the missile originated from. all it takes is a small lie, let the press get it into the zeitgeist and then it doesnt matter later everyone already thinks its the truthsignals said:What shocks me is that people are shocked by Snowden.
