Mesa has announced it's shutting down Air Midwest, and Colgan has announced it's retiring the B1900, bith by the end of the year.

Coincidentally, Big Sky and Skyway (part of Midwest) are also shutting down.

So ends all US Airways Express 19 seat flying... this affects a lot of cities, probably 20-30 stations... What happens now? Does US just drop all of the EAS flying? Put Dash 8s on them with multiple stops?

Hmmm looks like management has some decisions to make. They'll get back to you after the next wine tasting.

This is Mesa's idea of reducing capacity industry wide...lame ;) Actually Mesa had to close their bush operation to pay the 80M Lawsuit vs Aloha/Hawaiian(to come) and continue to operate Go! FOOLS!

With the problems some of the jet operators are having finding pilots, I can't imagine the doors are being beaten by anyone to fly a 19 seater.

Piedmont acquires a bunch of Q300s and Q400s, US Airways discontinues service at the smallest non-hub markets (those previous served by the B1900s) and the passenger travels to the nearest airport with reliable, well priced US Airways service. Kinda like the Southwest affect, only US Airways, and Express, needs to create the US Airways' affect.

Not $80 million and who wants a certificate for b1900s when you can get a certificate from the FAA anyhow.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Mesa file chapter 11 with the verdict and their financial problems they are having with not filing their SEC documents.

Darn, no B1900s? What will Tempe use for new flights to the Far East without those on the property?

Ah, isn't that what's happening in many of the B1900 markets on the east coast now? Why would someone fly into a market like BLF (B1900 service gone as of mid-Nov BTW), BKW, PKB, LWB, SHD, AHN, etc etc when you can make a 1-2 hour drive for half of the fare into the B1900 market?

The problem isn't the B1900 nor is it the carrier who is flying it. Anyone want to guess where the problem is???
