End of B1900 operations

Don't forget, they are being transitioned to Colgan's United Express Saabs.
Express at United could see the Q400

Not sure if United mainline scope will allow it
Colgan will acquire and operate 15 new Bombardier Q400 aircraft and the service will be marketed as part of Continental Connection.

Isn't the government paying for most of this subsudies flying? Someone will pick up the slack, whether it is Mesa, skywest, or another regional?? Free money.

$200 cap per passenger. Some markets have blown it repeatedly.

The problem lies in 3 areas:

#1. gas

#2. pilots

#3. Walmartization of the skies

regarding the fuel, 2 years ago it was about $1.50 a gallon, now its clocking at $3.10. Congress has REFUSED to give a fuel adjustment to EAS carriers.

With our regionals cutting hiring minimums, AGAIN, why would a 22 year old Embry Riddle kid want to fly a 1900 and build up experience, rather than jump right into an ERJ 145 or CRJ??

Walmarting, well. Lets look at Pennsylvania. WN and FL have ops in PIT, where fares are 1/2 what they would be out of Dubois or Morgantown. So think a family of 4 will pay $300 r/t out of DUJ to MCO when they can get it for $150 out of PIT?

Below is a link to a written reply by Regional Aviation Partners (I believe RAP was created by Mesa Airlines) addressing a recent article in USAToday critical of the EAS program. Scroll down to page 4 and read RAP's response concerning subsidy misunderstandings. Included on the following page is the USAToday article.
