Before the SHARES system went online - there were numerous mileage saver Envoy seats available this fall and early next winter to various cities in Europe. Now, there are none - only premium double mile seats are avaiable as far out as you can book - 330 days. So my question is - does anyone know if this a new policy to rid us of all of our miles - or have they just not loaded SHARES with the correct seat inventory yet?

This has nothing to do with shares..I have over 200,000 Delta Sky miles and am trying to use them on flights where there is only 1 booked in Business Elite and 40 booked in Economy class.. and this is on a few other days and months... 😉

I believe the issue is that we have about 5 million frequent flyer members, and people fail to acknowledge this. They accrue miles not only from flying, but from renting cars, certain hotel chains, credit cards, florists etc. Some of these people plan the use of their miles and save for years to do the "BIG OVERSEAS TRIP". The seats are limited and when they have gone they have gone.

It just seems a bit of a coincidence that before SHARES went online there were many mileage saver seats available - and then all of a sudden they were all gone. Doubt that they all got booked the same time as SHARES was going live.

It also seems that it doesn't necessarily help to book at that 330 day mark because they(all airlines) seem to be not assigning award inventory right away. Some people have even been known to score discount Envoy on short notice (less than 1 month).
