This is off the subject..

But, this union (CWA), has done what for the employees?

Before you open this up for discussion, they've done this and that, I know that, in the end it's the manager's discretion..

If I have my way, I'd start circulating a petition DE-CERTIFYING the CWA!

Golden1,

the NMB does not recognize petitions. If your company does get out of chapter 11 then your chapter 7 contract should be abolished. To be free from the chapter 7 contract, if your company starts making millions, you must decert your union.
Your union will not want you to lose your chapter 7 contract even when your company is out of chapter 11. But one union, the Allied Ground Workers, is planning a decert campaign for the ticket agents.

The Allied ground workers will be soliciting workers if your company becomes viable. Many CWA members have already contacted us for this endeavor.

THe idea of the AGW isn't to 'replace the CWA' with the AGW, God forbid because no union can help you under such horrible working conditions as the CWA collared you to.
No, the AGW will solicit cards to get rid of union representation which will ironically be the only way to improve working conditions that the CWA has strapped on you until at least 2015 [duration + stalled negotiations].

regards,

Tim Nelson
Interim Director, AGW

OMG!!

They've done ZERO for us!!

What good is having a union if all they do is GIVE in the BAND OF THIEVES?

I hope in my NEXT CARER(and I will have another  ), I dont work for a company that has organized labor-this is MY FIRST and I'm NOT IMPRESSED>>

Union pockets are lined, mine arent!

Perhaps golden1's firsthand experience is one of the reasons that union representation has fallen so much in the past few decades.

Well if there is anyone here who doesnt think this group in charge would have automatically taken the CWA group down to 13.10 an hour, think again. How long did it take to get them to even think about something else knowing they had to bargain (even though the end result wasnt great?) Does anyone think if they didnt have to work with the union you wouldnt already be at (and have been since bankruptcy) working for $13.10 with almost no bennies? The union might not be doing superfantastic, but then again, none of them on property are right now and they didnt have much of a choice in bankruptcy. The little amount I pay for dues would more than make up the difference in the 13.10 vs 17.00 I do make though.

This thread is as good a place for this as any....

The company has filed to reject the leases on several CTO facilities:

BOS (on Federal St)
CLT (Ballantyne Commons East Shopping Center)
DCA (on K St)
NYC (E. 59th St)
PIT (Grant St)

I don't know if any of these are still open or not....

There are obviously a lot of questions today in reference to the Early-Out and on how the newly voted on agreement will be administratively rolled out. . Your Local is aggressively pursuing those answers. We anticipate the Early-Out application period to begin around the 15th of January and commence on or around the 28th of February.

Fraternally,

Becky

Hey Becky
The CWA gets a chunk of our hard earned money every paycheck. It would behoove you to make this buyout thing happen sooner rather than later. I would suggest someone campout in CCY and make it happen. OK?
