You know I can't help but wonder why such venom is directed towards ONE person at US Airways? As time has passed I can't help but wonder why Al Crellin is the focal point of the rage on these boards?
Is it because when you work for him you're held accountable? I don't know I'm asking?
Is it because of his personality? I've never met the man.
The guy clearly has some skills. Having worked in larger corporations I know first hand that many people are promoted for myriad reasons, but sooner or later the goofballs are found out and off they go. Not so to date with Mr Crellin. So what gives?
1. The Happy Hatchet man - he likes it.
2. The results. You yourself say the only big thing US has done right is survive, which you attribute to Lakefield. For all the things that have gone wrong at U, why not hold somebody accountable?
3. The employees. You give them credit for doing a great job faced with formidible odds. Well, give them credit for some sense, too. Do you not find it telling that not ONE single line animal takes up for the man? They
deal with him. Contrast the man's reception with the troops with what Kelleher and Sinegal get from their guys, or what Davis got from his guys.
4. Davis, Kelleher and Sinegal were/are secure enough to hire managers worthy of respect. PI had, with a few exceptions, solid guys right on down to the supervisor level, guys and gals who earned your respect. In AC's shop, the quality of supervision deteriorated to the point agents wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.
Now Bob, you are connected enough to know this. And a bright guy.
Pot stirring?
PS: US has been, and apparently is, the exception to your rule of winnowing out the chaff.
Best I can figure is, good photography skills.
