First, the issue is between you and customs, not the company. and why would the company be notified if the crew-member made a mistake about the total?
and, so what if you chose to carry your "blue blanket" in the form of minis? I see it happen with crew-members quite a bit at customs. You go to the window and pay the duty/fine, if applicable. I even saw a crew-member with a box of Cubans, admit what he had and all they did was cut them up.
This sounds like a set up.
BTW, most "minis" come in various sizes, the largest is 1.7 ounces. Just because the airline serves 1.7 ounce minis doesn't mean the crew-member got those minis from the airplane.
