facilities maintenance manager accused of embezzlement

Those of us that were laid off from LAX because of these two guys and what they did to us will never forget.
<_< ------ From what I've been told, your not alone!!! I'm working with a few good wrenches from LAX. They've got quit a tale to tell!!-----

If he is a minority, he will get off.
You [edited by mod], who do you think is robbing you? How many minorities in Centreport gave themselves millions in bonuses? I don't see many minorities at the top of the TWU. Some low rate management flunky makes a move and gets caught, yet the real criminals go scott free. Give me a break! Go starch your hood or something!

I hear that! Gwonda Washington GM/BWI (African American) back in 03'/04' was budgeted money from AA to buy ramp equipment etc... She, pocketed the money. I think she was asked to leave/retire, I think she is doing something with Girl Scouts of America, but can't confirm that-

Gwonda was told to pursue other interests, but I don't think she was old enough to get a retirement package. Ramp equipment is pretty much all purchased out of HDQ. She was called down to DFW on a Thursday night for a Friday morning meeting, her office was all packed up the following Saturday, and she was never seen again.

And I don't believe it was something as stupid as theft as much as it was performance... Somehow she got busted from a managing director (wasn't she GM of SFO or SAN at one point?) and placed into the L5 GM position at BWI. As it was, Mitch was pretty much running BWI at the time, even though she was officially GM, and I know he wouldn't have put up with that. He's a stand-up guy.

At $ 52,000 not nearly enough, when a tradesman, ie, a carpenter earns over 100K, with minimal OT.

With residential housing stats down 25% during 2007, few carpenters, plumbers, or other workers in construction trades are making as much as they were in 2006. With today's oil prices and the ongoing collapse of the mortgage industry, 2008 doesn't look much better.

It is always comforting to know that now and then management is held to some sort of performance standard.

The stories they have to tell just scratches the surface of what went on!

A manager for American Airlines at O'Hare International Airport was charged this week with embezzling more than $3 million to fuel a lavish lifestyle, the FBI said Thursday.

Gary M. Aumann is alleged to have purchased numerous vehicles, riverfront property in Missouri and a 35-foot yacht, and made monthly payments to a dancer.

Aumann, a 39-year veteran at American and its facilities maintenance manager at O'Hare, directed in excess of $3 million in business toward companies owned by co-defendant Donald Down over the last five years, authorities said.

Agents this week seized property valued at more than $750,000, including 14 vehicles, three residences and several bank accounts, investigators said.

According to an FBI affidavit, Aumann made about $52,000 a year in his airline post, yet agents discovered he kept a Chicago-area condominium in addition to his home.

His expenses ran to about $15,000 a month, the agent reported, including making "monthly payments to a dancer in Missouri."

Thank you eolesen! I wasn't going to say anything, because I wasn't 100% certain. But I didn't believe Gwonda was pocketing any cAAsh meant for ground equipment. FWIW, she was a L6 GM at SFO, then went to HDQ as (I believe) a L7/8 director doing something with the TW transaction. Somehow, after 9/11, she magically appeared at BWI as the GM.

I see we have a mutual acquaintence in the current BWI GM.

I will confirm that the maintenance regional manager and the station manager did indeed get off.

In fact, the financial terms of their departure packages has been kept very quiet. Those in the know are quite uncomfortable when the subject is brought up.

There was the staged bathroom graffiti incident that made the company very uncomfortable, which gave them some bargaining power over the company.
