Feel The Bern

It has been broken when the supreme court named a republican to be president of the US 8 years before Obama.

But since you haven't answered Kev's question...could you name 3 things the new republican president will do that will help the middle class?

This article reminded me of you and all the other liberals here.

A New Generation of Bitter Liberals

Anyone who believes the 15-year-old wounds resulting from the Supreme Court’s decision in Bush v. Gore
must have healed by now should ask a Broward County Democrat for their thoughts on the matter.

Resentment among those who perceived themselves to be on the losing end of that decision lingers.
The notion that former Vice President Al Gore won the popular vote and yet lost the presidency is perceived
even today by partisan Democrats not only as (erroneously) anathema to the foundational precepts of American constitutional governance but a veritable crime.

Forget the merits of the case, which decidedly favor the plaintiff. A pervasive sense of victimization continues to animate many a liberal Democrat.

The old White guys have a monopoly on being victimized.

So I'll take that as a no...you can't name 3 things republicans have done to help the middle class, nor can you think of 3 things the future republican president will do to help the middle class.   Can't think of 3 things they did to help you, but you'll vote for them anyways.

You also can't name 3 things democrats have done to help the middle class, nor can you think of 3 things the future democrat president will do to help the middle class. Can't think of 3 things they did to help you, but you'll vote for them anyways.

Do you plan on retiring?  When you do....will you be sending back your Social Security check?  Democrats made that possible. After you have retired and you go to the doctor - will you Medicare be paying any part of the bill?  Thank a democrat.  Do you get overtime when you work?  Is your workplace reasonably safe?  Thank a democrat.

When I grew up in the 1960's (democratic administrations) my dad worked and mom stayed home with the kids. Same thing with just about all of my friends - dads worked, moms were taking care of the house.  One income, yet all of us took vacations...had comfortable homes....some had boats for weekend recreation....people were getting new cars.  All on one income.

When Reagan ushered in the boon to the middle class (ha)....moms started having to enter the workforce to help maintain the household.   Back in the good old democratic 60's, we put a man on the moon and companies were hiring because they were growing.  After the boon to the middle class 80's rolled around....rather than put a man on the moon, we had RJ Reynolds merging with Nabisco...Sunbeam with Coleman...Exxon with Mobil.  Sprint with Nextel.  Later...under republicans we had airlines (I'm guessing that you are familiar with them) merging with other airlines until we reached today....where we have FEWER airlines than we did in the 1960's.  And of course there were some "synergies" (people doing the same job) that we could eliminate and we outsourced everything to save a nickle.  Made the guys at the top wealthy as hell....how did it help the middle class?

So we had a booming middle class, and income and medical care in retirement under democrats.    SO...if they are so bad and republicans so good....how come you can't answer Kev's question?  Bullet points will do....name 3 things republicans have done to help the middle class.  It should be noted that republicans pretty much opposed all of those democratic plans I cited.   So come on....3 simple things that they have done to make your life better.

You really shouldn't tout programs that are on the verge of collapse. All due to democrats.

As far as the rest of the drivel, typical LWNJ garbage.....

Who took them to the verge of collapse? Can I put that down as one of the things republicans have done to help the middle class?

So can you name two more things they've done to help the middle class?

You'd think this would be easy. The distance TownPete has gone to dodge the issue is quite telling.

No distance at all.

Another liberal achievement:

JAN JOBS: +151,000 Or is it -665,000?

What jobs? BLS says 665,000 job LOSSES

New Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 665,000 jobs lost in January, a blunt finding that confuses the heralded report that 151,000 jobs were created in January in non-farm payrolls.
But who got them? The very same BLS finds that jobs to "native born" and immigrant workers dropped. Ditto for men and women.
It is possible that many employees took on a second job, according to analysts. But a difference of 816,000 is too big, one said.

70% Of Jobs Added In January Were Minimum Wage Waiters And Retail Workers

Since the US manufacturing sector is unofficially in a recession, and since the US service sector is allegedly growing like gangbusters, we are updating our favorite chart showing the bifurcation in the New Abnormal US economy: the job gains by U.S. manufacturing workers on one hand, and by waiters and bartenders on the other.
Here is the cumulative job gains for manufacturers vs waiters and bartenders in the past 12 months...

... and since December 2007.
