I'm already getting "hit hard." Only difference is that instead of paying for things like infrastructure and education, I'm paying for empire building and the prison industrial complex.

But convince me otherwise; show me how the GOP is different and how they have our best interests at heart. Why, you could even make a list!

Indeed they are.  If Bernie is the nominee, I'll go vote, just to make a statement.   If not, I'll stay home.  My vote wouldn't count anyways.   I live in Kansas.  It's republican.  We have the electoral college.  In the entire state,  the democrat only wins in two counties (Douglas - home of University of Kansas and Wyandotte-  Kansas City Kansas).  The rest of the state would vote for a dead skunk over Jesus if the skunk was a republican and Jesus was a democrat.   So my vote won't count.  I will save gas and time by staying away from the polls.
 
 I'll leave this election up to Florida or Ohio...where the last 3 elections were decided.  In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote...even AFTER the Florida votes were tallied.  But Bush won Florida and got 100% of their electoral votes.  Kansas doesn't have many electoral votes (6)...but in 2000,  400,000 Kansans (37%) voted for him.  But Bush got all 6 electoral votes went to Bush, so those 400,000 might as well have stayed home.   So it doesn't matter if it's Trump, Cruz, Hitler, Bin Laden or a dead skunk running on the republican ticket...they can count on the 6 electoral votes from Kansas.  So I'm not voting.
