that the West 737’s slated to go back early 2010 may now be extended until 2011 & 2012. Also a few of the A320s, 767s & 757s may also be extended a few years and not returned.

Is this a sign the “Right Sizingâ€￾ is complete or that the economy is coming back a bit?

It's a sign that we can't get financing for replacement aircraft on order.

According to Parker, who touched on this in his CLT visit, or maybe Kirby in PHX, financial institutions will only finance up to about 60/70%, no more 100% financing, so LCC doesn't want to spend cash for monies down. He said we will try to defer some AB deliveries and keep some fleet sked to go...

BINGO!

Tempe has to meet a minimum fleet count, and if they can't get, or don't want, new replacement aircraft, they have little choice but to keep the airframes they have.

Although we were slated to get another 5 (some say 7) new A330s in 2010, don't expect any. There is no financing out there, and Airbus is unlikely to play along with factory financing for much longer, especially now that it looks like no other carrier is likely to take on LCC as a "dance partner." We are the odd man out in the industry, and until that changes our very existence beyond 2 years or so is in serious question.

I'd agree here. With 5 TA routes cut, not many rumors of potential routes next year, particulary routes that will require the A332 any more deliveries will just create a surplus of widebodies. That isn't necesarily a bad thing but US is not in as good of a position as AA, CO, or DL/NW to find somewhere to use those widebodies besides PHL-CLT or CLT/PHL-MCO.

Is there potential of moving some of the 762's to PHX-Hawaii or are there still issues with moving the 762's over to the west operation?

No, Parker said the A330s are still coming. Kirby said the are looking to defer A320 series. Oh, wait, what did I just say? The A330s probably won't show up.

Their is a pic of a brand new A320 with CFM engines being towed in Tolouse on Airliners .net. I didn't know we were getting new A320's on the east.

My guess is that they will take the 330's with factory financing...why? EADS accounting allows them to book net cash revenue at delivery, whether or not their is factory financing. If EADS is looking at a down year in 2010, (and the surely are, especially with the potential losses at the military tanker program) I would think they would want to book the revenue as soon as possible.....if US fails in 2012-2013, they would rather take the impairment then, when we are likely to be in a better economic environment, rather than defer delivery (and revenue). In short, 2010 will be tough for Airbus/EADS and they will be quite ammenable to getting deals closed, probably at better terms than previously negotiated.

Its actually in Hamburg, Germany, not Toulouse.

West 737's may be staying because the lessor has no one lined up to take them over and would have to park them.

We'd be flying them for the cost of MX.

I was at the Airbus factory in Toulouse last week. I saw several airlines in "final assembly" (exterior only -- interiors are installed in Hamburg), none of which had the US tailfin.

Perhaps this new A320 is a replacement for the A320 that ditched in the Hudson River? Just a guess.

The earlier 319 orders were converted to 320's and 321's. This is a scheduled delivery.

August 30,2006
TEMPE, Ariz. (AFX) - US Airways Group Inc. said Wednesday it ordered seven additional Airbus A321 jets, and modified and accelerated orders for other Airbus aircraft.

The airline said it converted existing orders for one A320 aircraft and seven A319 jets to an order for eight A321 planes. ...
