With both the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers chartering a A321 and 757, does this mean that certain flights got cancelled or did they fill in with other equipment?

GO STEELERS and PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only flights between RDG and PHL were cancelled due to this.

As of 5pm today there were 2 canx showing on the books, both due to maint. 1 in SFO and 1 in BOS. Nothing canx because of the charter flights. They might have adjusted some flying to other aircraft type due to the required equipment, but no canx flights.

That is what I was thinking that they would just use some different aircraft on their routes. I guess on the weekend there are some planes that would be sitting around.

The Panthers were assigned a spare A321.

Not sure if you would call this a cancellation, but USAirways - West Ferried an aircraft EWR-RIC yesterday to run a Richmond-Puerto Vallarta Mx Charter. I would think the East Division would have run it if we had a spare aircraft.

this was not an "mx" charter...??? this was paid for...booked by/for through Awa..the charter was for the lester group--booked awhile ago on Hp metal....trust me...I was on it. Didn't have much to do with what was available...this was months---months-- in the planning and obvioiously, they called HP charters to book.

There was no spare A321. There was a spare A319 and there was an A321 line of flying subbed to an A319 (with no oversales) to free up the airplane for the charter. Same with the 757 for the Steeler Charter.

a320 used for ric-pvr

Kao, thanks.
Not sure if you would know the answer, but if this was Chartered Months ago, why did HP wait until the aircraft was ready to depart EWR, to get the Jepsen Plates for KRIC? I would figure that would have also been pre-planned.

paperwork was all ready but pilot never picked it up from chief pilots office...he came into EWR the day before and said paperwork wasn't where he could find it in PHX so he had it faxed to him the day of...I bid the charter back in Aug or Sep can not remember....
