Soaring to Seattle ...

On Saturday morning, US Airways flight 9094 will depart from Charlotte/Douglas International Airport with about 110 passengers, 9,000 pounds of equipment and the city's dreams of a date with the Super Bowl.
Before the Carolina Panthers play any road game, they have to get there. And for that, they depend on a chartered US Airways flight.

As part of the Panthers' contract with the airline, the team enjoys one of US Airways' biggest and newest planes, eats bigger meals than commercial passengers and watches (depending on taste) better movies.

The man in charge of it all for US Airways, which has its biggest hub in Charlotte, is Jim MacDonald. This week has been a whirlwind for the 39-year-old, whose regular job is managing all of US Airways' baggage handlers and catering workers in Charlotte.

Go Panthers! And GO STEELERS!! WOO HOOO!!! I'd love to see these two in Detroit, would be awesome. Wonder if "Doogie" has a clue that if the Panthers and Steelers are in the Super Bowl US East will shut down and all traffic must go through PHX and PHL! LOL

Terrific article, thanks for posting it 700!

Of course, leave it to the Charlotte Observer to promote US. Heaven forbid US itself bother to issue a press release talking about flying the Panthers and Steelers this weekend. Maybe if the Panthers were going to Hawaii. :p

Funny thing about this and Jim Mac will tell you, there is a certain person who travels on this aircaraft that prefers Pepsi (Diet) over Coke. Often, against our contract with Coke, Jim may smuggle a Diet Pepsi or two on board. Maybe we could get the Panthers and Steelers to decide, Pepsi or Coke.
