It is hardly surprising that you do not know much about the SYG law given your lack of curiosity about anything. Do you ever research anything before you spout off about it? Don't you get tired of being proven wrong time and time and time again?

I don't own a gun, never fired a gun but even I know that if you are going to shoot someone you aim for the biggest target which is the torso. The odds of hitting someone in the knee cap in a high stress situation where you feel your life is at risk is slim and if it can be proven in any way that you actually intended that the odds are not in your favor of you convincing anyone that you were in fear for your life.

I know. I love a debate as much the next person but it is frustrating trying to debate some one who is not only ignorant of the facts but also has absolutely no interest in trying to learn about the issue they are trying to debate.

More information is coming out about the case not that some here would be concerned about facts.

Seems that Mr Dunn fired 8 shoots into the car. After the shooting Mr Dunn takes his girlfriend and they go to a hotel fearing that more gang members would show up. They got a good night sleep. Saw the news about the shooting in the morning. Drove to his house where the cops arrested him on an unrelated out standing warrant.

Does anyone see anything missing from his story? He did not call the cops after he shot at the car 8 times. He did not call the cops as he was driving to the hotel. He did not call the cops when he was at the hotel. He did not call the cops when he saw the news in the hotel the next morning. Mr. Dunn should be happy that it is not against the law to be a dumb ass. That wold be a slam dunk conviction.

On the bright side, at least the cops did arrest the SOB shortly after the incident instead of waiting for a few months.

And since you know everything, you agree that the SYG law can be used on anyone within a 50 ft. radius of you , that you feel threaten by............correct ?

And since you know everything, you agree that the SYG law can be used on anyone within a 50 ft. radius of you , that you feel threaten by............correct ?

My interpretation of the SYG law in FL is that there is no distance requirement. Shot for what ever you want. Smart money is on hitting a larger target than a smaller one. Everyone I have heard or spoken with says that if you are going to pull a gun you dam well better be ready to use it and your intent is to kill, not wound. Other wise odds are you will be the dead one.

This has nothing to do with being smarter, although I can see how you would feel that way. This has to do with reading, researching and using a bit of logic. You should try it some time.

I do not own a weapon. I do not intend on that happening. I was even held up at gun point and robbed. I have never killed another human being and I have no intention of that changing either. How ever if I am going to get a weapon, and if I am going to draw on you, you can be dam sure that my intent will be to kill you and not to wound you.

I'm not sure what forum your reading, if you read through the entire thread or just pick and choose which ones to read, but I had no intention of looking into the SYG law..........don't live in Fla. !

The discussion ,before you entered it, was never about the law itself! I could give a rat's ass ! I don't live in Fla. It was about whether or not you could hit some in the kneecap from 50ft. !

Did you read the title of the thread? Since you commented in the thread and did not specify that the actions you were proposing were not to take place in the scenario provided how are we to know what you are rambling on about?

Once again, you have absolutely no understanding of "stand your ground" laws or what the term "duty to retreat" means. Those of us who understand the law have no real reason to change it.

Not sure why you are fixated on this knee cap and SYG relationship. The law makes no specifications on where or how you may shoot someone.

What the law does state is that you 'castle' is portable. What it says is that so long as you are in a public place and acting in a legal manner, should you feel 'threatened' you have no obligation to retreat and that you are authorized to use deadly force.
