(Florida) STAND your GROUND--Part 2

This shows yet again that there are too many people carrying weapons who have no training .. This yet another example of an armed person shooting and unarmed person. There has to a level of responsibility an armed Funny how the right wants to avoid that when it comes to crap like this. The gun man screwed up. Being scared should not in my opinion be justification to murder someone. If you were scared and you end up killing an unarmed person you should be up on murder charges in my opinion.

This case also shows how the SYGL is flawed. When out in public, I think someone should be obligated to with draw if possible. The SYGL should only apply in ones home. The Castle doctrine is where this originated and that is where it should stay.

Florida is a screwed up state.

Florida is a screwed up state.

And SADLY Florida will NEVER CHANGE its Screwed Up status, which equates to a never ending Supply of BLUE Electoral Votes !!

Charlie Crist looks like an intelligent person.
Rick Scott looks like a member of the ARYAN NATIONS with a 9th grade education.

Tree', at the rate the GOPers are going post-election (El-Rushbo, Fla. voter suppresion, this JAX cowboy dude, ...(HEL*, the list goes on and on)."WE" are going to be @ '1600" for a Loong time. : )

I'd just shoot 'em in the kneecap !

That has got to be the DUMBEST statement on this forum in quite some time. Ever tried to hit a target with a pistol at 50 feet and you're going to clip him in the kneecap?

AZ the biggest F$%& UP STATE in the country! Heck Mexico should own it, maybe they do!

What is this a NO GUNS crowd?

Move to Detroit, then you have an argument!

Otherwise shut-up, because the criminals HAVE guns!

Perhaps so. How ever in this case a person who was not committing a criminal act (so far as I know) shot a kid in a car who was not coming a criminal act st the time (so far as I know). So how do this benefit either party involved? Is this an acceptable risk? What if you were the parent of the kid who was shot?

First we still don't know the WHOLE story. Casey Anthony was innocent but evidence was SWEPT UNDER THE RUG!

Yes, there are idiots who own guns. I knew a few, but being in NYS, their permits were revoked. But just because NO guns were in the SUV doesn't mean that they didn't ditch them! Teens driving a gas-guzzling-air-polluting SUV, well what is wrong with this picture. The risk was that the teens made the LEGAL gun holder feel threaten. If I was a parent, well I would be a low-life if I didn't take my kid's side, but deep inside I would want to know what happened in reality. If my child was a problem child, I could either state that, OR see if there is money coming my way!

PS this being Florida, well they have their own tag at FARK.com

No we don't. You seem to be willing to make quite a few assumptions about the entire ordeal though don't you?

Just because they did not find the nuclear bomb does not mean they did not ditch that as well. So if they never find the gun will you still assume that they still had a gun? He felt threatened? Is that all the justification needed to murder someone? No gun, just words and Pow!! Your dead. Is that really the world you want to live in? SUV's are cheap. It could have been a parents vehicle. WHF does the car have to do with anything? Even if it was stolen the killer had no way of knowing that. The only assumption you missed was that they could have robbed a bank just before. Seriously. Lets try dealing in what we know verses the unlimited possibilities that your imagination can come up with. So far the evidence points to an innocent teen being murdered by a citizen with a gun. If I was the parent I'd want that SOB put in jail for the rest of his life.

Should evidence be discovered that supports the killers story the issue can be revisited but so far the shooter is guilty of murder as far as I am concerned given the current evidence.

My bad ! Didn't realize the "Stand Your Ground" law allowed you to shoot someone within a 50 ft. radius ! Always thought it was an up close and personal event, in which case, I think I could take out a kneecap or two ! Or do you say, go straight for the head shot ?

It is hardly surprising that you do not know much about the SYG law given your lack of curiosity about anything. Do you ever research anything before you spout off about it? Don't you get tired of being proven wrong time and time and time again?

I don't own a gun, never fired a gun but even I know that if you are going to shoot someone you aim for the biggest target which is the torso. The odds of hitting someone in the knee cap in a high stress situation where you feel your life is at risk is slim and if it can be proven in any way that you actually intended that the odds are not in your favor of you convincing anyone that you were in fear for your life.
