TULE FSC: reassign FSC duties at TUL maint base to OSM Classification apx. 60 employees will be retained and will attrite over a period of time. the remaining 20 employees will be affected

anyone have any idea what this means?

Bob your oppinion plz

Our president is #16 on the Tul fleet list hmm I think this is a legit question

Sounds like they are gonna let OSM's do the job of FSC's just like they are gonna do with AMT's.

If you read the letter it says the duties will be reassigned to OSM. It does not say the employees will be reassigned to OSM. All remaining FSC's will remain in Title 3 and will eventually be replaced with OSM. It appears that those that are laid off wont be recalled. The company has the ability to reassign the work. The statement about approx. 60 retained and 20 affected is a little misleading. Tul is a one station agreement. All the terminal FSC's will blend with base FSC's as their seniority places them. The number laid off will be much larger than 20 affected.

But Sam Cirri will have a position until he retires either working at AA or at the TWU International.

As a FSC that works at the Tulsa Base I have this to say.

TUL and TULE are under a one station rule. Thats a confirmed truth.

I have heard the following rumors.

1. They are going to keep some FSC's in Tulsa. They will be eliminated eventually through attrition (this seems to be the one most frequently repeated).

My take on this if it is allowed is a lot of high seniority will bump into TULE and retire out soon. So the FSC presence there would be short lived. I doubt it will be the group that is there now. Another scenario is them laying off people just to bump the TULE employees then recalling the person just to eliminate FSC positions from Tulsa (since TULE will offer no recall).

2. I have heard that OSM's will do our job and we are out the door. (to me this seems most likely)

3. I have heard that the company will transition the remaining FSC's into the OSM title group.

Things I have noticed

1. The paper I got showing projected RIF's listed Tulsa with 124 clerks total. 124 clerks were projected to get laid off. 0 positions were being shown as outsourced.

I conclude from this information all FSC's will be laid off and that no outside vendor will take over the work. This lends credence to the rumor that OSM's will take over the current FSC job responsibilities.

Things management has said

One of our upper management goons made a comment that converting FSC's to the OSM job classification was "on the table".
I personally think this was an attempt at misdirection.

Yes I think you are right! He will be employed somewhere. Sam is a smart man. I have to give him credit he did the impossible being elected by a majority of AMT's. He's no dummy! But if you sit down and talk with him I think most realize he was the best choice of those that wanted the job. Our past presidents were nothing to brag about!

Yes it appears he did well for himself.

My questions are during the attrition what work are the 60 FSC's going to perform, what Title 3 work are the OSM going to do? Are the Title 3 employees performing Title 1 work?

Buck, I dont think they know how all of this will play out. There is alot of shades of gray in almost every article. One thing is for sure OSM's will be doing all of FSC scope of work at the base eventually. One of the guys in hangar 1 explained to me that approx. 100 OSM's would be assigned to each hangar floating to whichever aircraft they are needed on. OSM's would do open up and teardown of the cabin. FSC's currently do the stripping of carpets, tape, upholestry, lit, scrub overhead bins etc. Then the FSC's install all new as the aircraft pulses down the line. In the future current AMT's will be tomorrows OSM's doing all of FSC's work. Looks like they got around cross utilization.

I would guess that this means that AA plans on TUL to be served by Eagle only. I remember Cradall saying years ago that someday Tulsa would be an Eagle operation.

Pointing out that the vote is occurring as I post, there was an incident tonight at work that isn't really surprising to those that recognize the team work of the company and the union.

An OSM came to my dock and began asking questions from a test that he is going to take, which is a familiarization of the cabin interior of the 737.

He said that his supervisor told it was to get the OSM's ready to work on the docks.

What's funny is it appears that the team believes they have already won.

Only time will tell...

Heard they are signing up OSMs for Hot Bond School. Their arrogance continues.....

Call it arrogance, but AA has a business to run... If both the TA and the term sheet call for OSM's to be moving into the docks and other jobs within the shops, then it's probably not a waste of time to start doing preparations where they can.
