FSC's Why?

Fleet svc has been a dead end job for years. I started looking for a job in 2003 when jim little said "I think it's time we talked about concessions" leading up to the contract that slamed the door on the future at AA. It took me a few years, but I landed a MUCH better job with a solid pension and I worked part time at AA until February of this year when I took the SIS. Best move I ever made. If you guys want a raise and better benefits, then the choice is clear, GET OUT OF AA! There is no future there but lower pay, horrible benefits, and working till you're dead with no pension. The twu is an industry leader. Leading the race to the bottom!

As much as I do not like what you say I have to concede....... it is true. I see no future for FSC's at AA. It will never again be what it was. I can only see them losing in the future. I heard a clerk say "Fleet Service at American Airlines is not a career anymore, they took too much. This place will be a revolving door". That is an exact quote from a fifteen year employee.

Class warfare at it's finest.

The fact that they voted yes on that peice of garbage suggest no self worth.

There no future anywhere in this industry regardless of your choice of airlines. The lagacy airlines were created under a regulated formula. When Democrat President Jimmy Carter signed in deregulation the legacies lined up and went bust and then bankruptcy one by one untill the last legacy AA took the dive. There are still too many seats available daily for sale even with the so called mergers meaning your next door neighbor using the internet can force the pricing even lower.

When the airlines can't make a profit in the future guess where they'll turn to for relief.. Your Pockets again and again..

Don't confuse a career with a job... Career implies that there's some form of advancement and continuing education along the way, and I'm not referring to advancement of seniority, pay or benefits, or sitting down to take the annual dangerous goods test.

While many have spent/will spend their entire working life in an entry level job where the only requirement is a GED or high school diploma, it was never intended to be a career unto itself.

And no, that's not intended to slam anyone. Some people work to live, some people live to work.

That's why I'm thankful my trade doesn't require a damned airplane.

C'mon. There is no such thing as even a career in this country anymore in most cases. The executive pay is so dependent on stock price that these raiders such as the Horton Gang could care less if they get their pay from an airline or a telephone company. They are geniuses because they figure out a way to send jobs overseas. If there are unions involved then the BK laws will assist them in getting the stock up to a level they deserve so they can ride off to the next conquest..
You are correct that some jobs are more easily replaced than others but when these type of executives are allowed to do what they do, no one is safe. Even the so-called educated workers. Many people buy into your logic or the "union made us do it" but the executives don't care. It's all about the payday.
