Fun contest! Guess where NWA's next "incident" will be!

PHX - Wing falls off streaking to the ground by Doug Parker's window at the Sandcastle, he looks up from his desk where he is counting his $9 Million windfall from selling off LCC stock options, and says..."Looks like Northwest might be ready to talk merger.."

Well, it took a while, but I knew the scabs wouldn't let us down...

London-bound Northwest Airlines flight diverted to Duluth

Northwest Airlines Flight 44 bound for London from Minneapolis was diverted to Duluth International Airport late Saturday night after smoke was reported in the cabin, said Brian Ryks, executive director of the Duluth International Airport Authority.

The DC-10 was carrying about 250 passengers and landed without incident around 9:25 p.m. at the Midfield apron near the airport's control tower. About 20 emergency first-responders from Duluth and surrounding townships responded and waited while the 148th Fighter Wing Fire and Rescue Squad approached the plane. No injuries were reported.

Doug Wood, Duluth's NWA station manager, went aboard to inspect the plane and believes the smoke may have been caused by an electrical problem.

At press time, mechanics were being flown in from Minneapolis to inspect and repair the aircraft. Another DC-10 was sent to Duluth in case those repairs would be lengthy, Ryks said. The airline hoped to get the London-bound passengers on their way again Saturday night or this morning.

Ryks said planes have been diverted to the airport because of weather, but he could not remember one for a mechanical issue.

"We practice for these things all the time; fortunately this wasn't anything severe," Ryks said.

I will have to go back and see who picked the closest station for this round of the contest - stay tuned... 🙂

next pick grr with a smoky problem and or may be an engine failure

The closest guess was MKE by Hackman - congrats on winning this round!
It's fairly close on the map, I'll take the win Pete. 😉

Too bad Scab Air dumped its maintenance base in Duluth on the state of Minnesota. Now they have to fly scabs on a field trip to attempt a fix on the smokin' DC-10 junker. Anybody know if the passengers made it to London yet? I'll bet the backup DC-10 was flown, and the scabs are still shooting wires on the original DC-10 junker after a Budwieser breakfast this morning.

Smoke in cabin isn't severe Ryks? Me thinks Ryks and Woody better "practice" a lot more with a prehistoric fleet of China overhauled, scab maintained JUNKERS.

For my next guess at another Scab Air incident, I'll say major hydraulic problems/failure in LAX.

Well, it took a while, but I knew the scabs wouldn't let us down...

Unfortunately, you're wrong Pete...There have been plenty of "RTFL MTV" incidents over the last few weeks, but none have made it to the presses.

By the way, last night also saw a MSP-DCA flight divert to ORD due to losing all pitot heat sensors.

Anybody know if the passengers made it to London yet?

Not as of this writing...I'll look and see what I can find while at work tonight.

My next pick is BNA.

Well since Hackman plucked my favored LAX out from under me, I'll take it to the house with an MSP tire/brake episode.

guess that northworst air got tired of all the media hype with the scabbed maintained junkers.

I'm still sticking with the Washington,D.C. area. Marion Blakey needs to see in person the NWA junk her FAA is allowing to fly,I mean crash, in the USA.

that DC-10 cancelled according to an aol news i read this morning after pax had been sittin on it for 10 hrs. man them peopl got to be p!ssed! I know if it were me I would be demanding a refund and a thorough investigation of SCABBY PATCH AIR and the treatment of their employees and passengers. As for my next pic I think I will take OKC with an emergence landing due to low hydralics

10 hours waiting and the scabs couldn't fix it even though they caused it. Those passengers should have drove to London. 😛 They would have got there faster and much safer too! 😉
