Furloughs for 2009

http://www.philly.com/philly/business/home...t_capacity.html

Almost a 1.8 billion USD loss? This is NOT good at all. Brutal is an understatement!

Anyone hear anything ? With the bookings for the next 2 months in the tank , February is brutal ,
and with a 9% reduction in capacity , it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whats coming.
It seems like the West operation may get hit like the East did in 2005 , the farming out of class2 and 3 cities.Lets hope for the best in 2009 !

Well, that $1.8B loss equates to losing ~$51,500/employee.

Tempe's thought process: eliminate as many employees as possible. Losses eventually disappear.

Yea, that'll work!!!

Just heard Sandcastle is going to close PHL, CLT, BOS, LGA, DCA and run everything out of PHX....
That way LCC can cut capacity, revenue, integrity, etc. etc.

Opps, my bad, Just kidding...

It's PHX that's closing and running everything out of the east....

Opps, my bad again... Just kidding...

Sandcastle is going to close all bases and open one up in Tupelo, MS...

Profit and Loss is sport of meaningless in these economic times. The real measure is in the changes on the balance sheet. If US had more cash and assets at the end of 2008 then it did at the end of 2007, good. If it has less, not good. Of course this applies to all the airlines. So when they announce their year end figures, ignore the P/L, look at the balance sheet, thats where the money is.
